HoopsHype Joel Przybilla rumors

August 22, 2013 Updates

There are still some good people out there. Blazers coach Terry Stotts is outstanding; the best coach I have ever dealt with. And I have tremendous respect for Wesley Matthews, who cares so deeply and works so dilligently at his craft. I also still have a fondness for Batum. And through the years I cherish my relationships with Dale Davis, Stoudamire, James Jones, Joel Przybilla, Jarrett Jack ... there are some good guys. But somewhere in this bizarre transition when everyone has a blog, and people who can write 140 characters are considered journalists, the job lost its allure. Often times it's not about being right, it's about being the loudest. It's not about being good, it's about being first. And it's not about telling the real story, it's about being friends with the players. Oregonian

Joel Przybilla barely played during the regular season and hasn’t played during the playoffs. The Bucks’ reserve center, who has overcome some serious injuries in recent years — he has twice ruptured his right patella tendon — isn’t ready to hang up the sneakers. Przybilla, who will become an unrestricted free agent July 1, said he hasn’t been this healthy in years and could still contribute to a team. “I’m definitely keeping the door open,” the 33-year-old Przybilla said. He hopes to contribute in his return to the Milwaukee Bucks, the team with which he began his NBA journey more than 12 years ago. "I never thought I'd be in my 13th season," Przybilla said Thursday after signing a one-year deal with the Bucks. "It goes by fast; I really mean it. If my body feels good, I want to play." Veteran Joel Przybilla, officially signed Thursday by the Bucks, said a lunch meeting he had last week with general manager John Hammond and coach Scott Skiles helped sway his decision. "You can tell when someone wants you to be part of something special," the 32-year-old center said. "I think it's going to be a very good team. If some nights I don't play, I'm willing to accept that. We have a lot of young bigs and I can help teach the game at this point in my career." Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

Sam Amick: From the NBA unemployment line, source says free agent center Joel Przyzbilla will likely decide which team to sign with by later today or tonight. It appears Milwaukee is out in front, with Portland and Dallas also in the running. Sulia

The 7-foot-1, 255-pound Przybilla has yet to make a decision on where he'll play next season, but the 12-year veteran is said to be ready to make up his mind later Friday, according to a report from Sports Illustrated's Sam Amick. The Mavs are believed to be in the running with the Blazers and Milwaukee Bucks, the team Przybilla started his career with and played with for three-and-a-half seasons. The Mavs would seem a distant third in this race if they are indeed genuinely interested in toying with the roster to bring in Przybilla. ESPN.com

The Bucks are also in talks with unrestricted free-agent center Joel Przybilla, yet another excellent defender who played last season for the Portland Trail Blazers. According to some individuals close to negotiations, the Bucks are clearly the front-runners for his services. Racine Journal-Times
