John Lucas III: I just SMH at some of the stories that I read About my homie D Rose. It's funny how when u speak the truth about something they still find. Away about saying something negative about you. If they only knew what he has put his body thru to get back. So they can miss me with this. Twitter

“John has received interest from different teams, but to say he has declined any formal offers would be inaccurate,” Lucas’ agent, Bernie Lee, said when reached on Wednesday. “John is in a situation, after a crazy summer, of trying to make the right decision versus any decision, but he is willing to prove himself as requested. John owes a tremendous amount of his value in the NBA to the opportunity Chicago's front office gave him there initially. Over time, it's become clear that Gar Forman has a unique ability to find value in obscure places: He signed John out of China, and he might be the best in the NBA at this. In some ways John was at the beginning of this. I have not had a single conversation with Gar about John since John left. The different situations just haven't lined up. Gar has found various ways to replace the role John left, including this year, and John has been under contract since leaving. I do have every belief that John will resume his NBA career soon, but to date the only opportunities John has declined have been lucrative money offers with Jilin in China earlier in the year and Fujian on Wednesday.” RealGM

The Thunder, Pacers and Grizzlies scoured the free-agent market for point guards after injury issues, and they contacted Lucas prior to deciding upon players this week. Lucas, who has been working out in Houston since his release from the Washington Wizards, also received proposals in the Chinese Basketball Association. RealGM

Likely options include Ish Smith, John Lucas III, Diante Garrett and Michael Jenkins. If the exception is granted by Wednesday as expected, it’s likely that one of those players will be added in time for Friday’s home game against Memphis. Oklahoman

Most guys didn’t pay attention to us, which was perfectly fine. My kids were there to be at work with dad, not to hobnob (not that they know what hobnob means). When new Jazz players John Lucas III and Brandon Rush came out of the locker room, they saw us and walked straight to my rowdy bunch. Both NBA pros offered me a warm “Happy Thanksgiving” greeting. They then took a moment with my kids. Rush kindly told them “hi” and shook their hands. Jody Genessy

Lucas also grasped each child’s hand, learned their names and asked what their favorite pie was. Ethan, 9, and Sydney, 7, both told him, “pumpkin.” Aidan let him know that “punkin pie” was this 4-year-old’s preferred Thanksgiving dessert. “Have you ever tried pumpkin cheesecake?” Lucas asked. “No,” they replied. “You should have your dad take you to the Cheesecake Factory and get some pumpkin cheesecake.” Jody Genessy

On Friday morning, I was in a hall near the EnergySolutions Arena court waiting to interview players after the Jazz’s morning pregame prep session (called a shootaround). I was chatting with team employees when Lucas left the arena. When he saw me standing there, the point guard smiled and said, “I’ve got something for your kids.” Lucas returned from the Jazz locker room with two styrofoam to-go containers, securely (and awesomely) wrapped in sticky white medical tape. He’d brought pumpkin cheesecake for my kids. I was genuinely stunned. And touched. Jody Genessy
