Kevin Love called out Barea and Dante Cunningham for sitting on the bench during timeouts and pouting because they weren’t playing late in a Jan. 8 loss to Phoenix during which the Wolves blew a six-point lead with 96 seconds left. On Tuesday at Phoenix, Barea again clearly was unhappy when he was taken out midway through the fourth quarter. Saunders on his weekly KFAN radio show said he put Barea “on notice” and said he needs to contain his emotions better. “It’s going to be tough for me to change,” Barea said. “I can calm down a little bit. I let it go real quick. I get a little mad. I wish I could be out there a little longer. Things happen and then I get back to getting my team going from the bench. Minneapolis Star-Tribune

Q Were you hoping to stay here instead of being traded? Jose Juan Barea: You never really want to get traded. I think I’m in a good situation here, and I think we have a good group of guys with a good staff. Q Does it weigh on your mind when you hear rumors? Jose Juan Barea: It’s not really that big of a deal. Maybe a little bit because you have to listen to people ask you about it, but other than that it’s no big deal. Minneapolis Star-Tribune

“It doesn’t bother me,” Budinger said before Wednesday’s victory, before making his fourth consecutive start in place of injured Kevin Martin. “It doesn’t affect me at all. I’m still going to go about my business the same way.” Said Barea: “If it happens, it happens. But it’s not my job to worry about it. I can’t pay attention to that.” Minneapolis Star-Tribune

J.J. Barea chatted with reporters after practice on Monday about Saturday night's ejection in the fourth quarter at Atlanta after he refused to quit complaining to the officials about their work and was whistled for two technical fouls. "I just got a little frustrated with a couple calls," he said. "The first technical was fine. I should have stopped after the first one, you know. I think I was a little frustrated when I got to the locker room, I let my teammates down a little bit by getting that second one. But if something happens to me every once in a while...I'm doing a better job lately. I've only gotten two technicals this year. So I've just got to let that one go." Minneapolis Star-Tribune
