HoopsHype Julius Randle rumors
The Lakers begin summer league Friday in Las Vegas, but Randle will not be on the court until he signs with them. The team is waiting because it can save about $500,000 if his signing is delayed, money that could be used toward free agents such as Anthony and Pau Gasol. Los Angeles Times

The Los Angeles Lakers will send rookie Julius Randle to Indiana on Wednesday to be examined by foot specialist Dr. David Porter, the team announced Tuesday. The trip is not an emergency development by any means, merely the Lakers covering their bases and getting Randle's right foot -- which he broke at the beginning of his senior season in high school -- looked at by one of the leading foot doctors in the country. The Lakers do not believe Randle will require any preemptive surgery on his foot. Randle played all 40 games of Kentucky's season last season and only improved as the season wore on, in the opinion of Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak. ESPN.com
And like any future basketball player born in 1994, Randle, who was taken with the No. 7 pick in Thursday’s NBA draft, grew up a fan of the then-young Lakers superstar. He even has a #throwbackthursday picture of himself wearing a Kobe jersey (back before the Black Mamba switched to No. 24). Randle posted the picture after he learned he’d be taking his talents to Hollywood. For The Win
