Cleveland Cavaliers coach Byron Scott said newly signed power forward Kevin Jones likely will not join the team this weekend but will remain with the team's NBA D-League affiliate, the Canton Charge, for the short term. The coach doesn't think he'll stay in Canton long. "I don't know at all as far as when we expect to see him,'' Scott said as the Cavs prepared for tonight's game against the Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena. "If I had to guess, I think we'll see him pretty soon. He'll be up here and start practicing with us. "As you guys know, in training camp we really liked Kevin, thought he could be a pretty good NBA player. That's why we wanted to keep him around, get him into Canton, see how he'd played. Obviously, he played very well. "I don't know what type of NBA player he's going to be, but it's going to be interesting to find out.'' Cleveland Plain Dealer

Undrafted free agent Kevin Jones will finally sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers today, agent Bill Neff told HoopsHype. Jones, a 6-foot-8 forward out of West Virginia, will get a partially guaranteed deal. "The Cavaliers hung with Kevin during his (foot) injury, which is great," Neff said. "The injury set him back during the workout process. He is healthy now." HoopsHype

Kevin Jones‘ agent says the former West Virginia star has a guarantee from one team that he will be picked in the first round of Thursday’s NBA Draft. If that doesn’t materialize, he expects Jones to go in the second round. ZagsBlog.com

“A team in the first round has committed to him,” agent Bill Neff told SNY.tv. “The question is, what does that mean? I never trust anything other than what happens on draft night". "He’ll get drafted,” Neff added. “It’s either them in the first or early second.” ZagsBlog.com
