Tim Kawakami: Source: MIN has made it clear that in any Love deal, the Warriors must also take back Kevin Martin. Not an insignificant thing... That's why it's not a straight decision between Thompson or Love. It's between Thompson + pieces and... Love + Martin's bad money. Twitter @timkawakami

According to a person with knowledge of the situation, the Warriors aren't keen on the idea of taking on the contract of veteran shooting guard Kevin Martin (three seasons, $21.2 million remaining) or giving up the future first-round pick that the Timberwolves are known to have asked for. (Because they owe their 2014 first round pick to the Utah Jazz, they would have to wait until the draft begins on Thursday night to trade their 2015 pick since league rules prohibit a team from owing first-round picks in consecutive years.) The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the private nature of negotiations. USA Today Sports

Intensely private and introverted, Adelman has shown a softer, warmer side over the past two months. Is that a sign that his mind is made up? If it is, this is not the way his players wanted to see him go. "I'm sure it's been tough on him, dealing with us knuckleheads and then he has to deal with his family problems," said Kevin Martin, who has played for Adelman both in Minnesota and Houston. "... You just wish him the best, whatever he feels like he needs to do. We'll be right beside him." Columbian

Martin underwent treatment after practice and didn't talk with media members before leaving the arena, but I'm hearing he's feeling better with what likely is knee tendinitis. His knee first bothered him last week in Detroit and really flared up in the second half of Friday's game at San Antonio. He said before Monday's game that he needed to get his knee "right." Kevin Martin didn't exactly say before tonight's game at Boston that he won't play but he sure sounded like it. Martin played just 19 minutes in Sunday's victory at Memphis because of what he'd only specify as a hurting knee and didn't score for the first time since Valentine's Day 2012. Asked before the game if it was his decision or Rick Adelman's decision, Martin said: "That's a knee decision. It doesn't feel good at all. It's something I've got to get right. I don't know. It's hard to tell. There's a lot of pain in the knee. It's a time I've got to get it right." [...] Martin said the knee has been bothering him since a game at Detroit last week. He said he didn't hit it or hurt it in a specific play. "Just over time," he said. "Maybe old-man age." Minneapolis Star-Tribune
