Before the Clippers played the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday night at the Rose Garden, Odom had taken a total of 200 shots, the ninth-highest on the team. He’s making just 37% of his shots, 12.2% (six for 49) of his three-point shots. But that doesn’t mean the Clippers don’t want Odom to shoot the basketball. “I don’t want to rattle the boat,” Odom said after taking some extra shots at Saturday’s shoot-around. “Everything is good. There will be a time when it’s time for me to excel offensively and to pick up some of the slack. I’m working my way into it.” Los Angeles Times

Q: How close were you to retiring during your Dallas experience? Lamar Odom: Close. It's funny, because I asked my children, my son especially (if he should retire). Basketball has been a timeline for my friends, people in my family. And to see the support from those closest to me, I think that's the reason why I kind of stuck it out. I could take the humility of not being where I'm at (as a player), but that's life. USA Today Sports

Q: How's the home life? Lamar Odom: Beautiful. Marriage is a beautiful thing. Me and my wife have a great relationship. Q:I hear Kim (Kardashian) and Kanye (West) have alittle one on the way? A:I'll be an uncle again. I'm excited for them. USA Today Sports

And just like that, on back-to-back plays, Odom's teammates saw him display the multiple skills they had all seen before. "I feel good," Odom said. "Every game, every practice, I feel better. I'm eating right, getting rest." Los Angeles Times

The Clippers beat the Suns, turned a two-point lead after three quarters into an 18-point thumping, without their starters playing a minute of the fourth quarter. That's how good this team can be. That, too, should concern the rest of the Western Conference. "He's coming," Del Negro said of Odom. "He wants it. I believe in him. I'm going to keep pushing him, making him work, and he's going to do the work. His teammates support him because we know that he gives us an element that we need." Orange County Register

Odom proceeded to have the worst season of his career, averaging career-lows in points (6.6) and rebounds (4.2) in Dallas. When asked after practice whether he had any emotions about playing Dallas, Odom said, "Naw." Why? "It was a blur, man," Odom replied. "I wasn't there either, like mentally." "The people are nice," Odom said of Dallas. "Great fans. "Sometimes we make pit stops in some places. I remember the people and the city. Basketball just wasn't there for me at that time." It was the surest sign yet that Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro's faith in the versatile forward could be rewarded sooner rather than later. Del Negro said he's determined to support Odom, who was out of shape to start the season. "I think Lamar is continuing to make progress," Del Negro said. "I see he's working hard every day. I thought he made some really good passes for us (against the Kings). His overall presence is getting better." Los Angeles Daily News

Reserve forward Lamar Odom skipped the morning shootaround because of an upset stomach, but played his customary minutes against the Hornets. He took a swig from a bottle of Pepto Bismol as he chatted with a locker room visitor before the game. Odom went into the game averaging 1.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 12.3 minutes, microscopic numbers for a player who was the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year while with the Lakers in 2010-11. "I'm just trying to keep him engaged," Del Negro said. "He knows he needs to play better. He's lost some weight. He needs to lose more. I'm going to stick with him because in the long run he can give us something we need." Los Angeles Daily News

Odom said he has gotten his weight down to 250 pounds, and he understands that the results today aren't the ones that matter. "I'm looking big picture," he said Sunday. And big picture, Odom's going to be important. "He has such a good feel for the game, he can make plays out there," Del Negro said. "He sees plays offensive or defensively out there because of his experience." Orange County Register

Odom gave his teammates a book called the "The 48 Laws of Power," an international bestseller that is a guide for anyone who wants power, observes power or wants to arm himself against power. Chris Paul said he has started to read the book. "Lamar, I'm feeling that book," Paul said. "My dad started reading it and tried to take it. But I had to get back. I like it." Los Angeles Times

Los Angeles Clippers forward Lamar Odom practiced for the first time in two weeks and plans on playing in the Clippers' season opener Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies. "I feel good, I still know how to play," Odom said. "For the record, I think I'll be the Lamar of 2010. People keep saying, 'What Lamar are you going to get?' Let's see, 2000 I was on the All-Rookie Team, I was Sixth Man of the Year, my year in Miami was pretty good. When I look at my resume, I see some really solid stuff. ... Hopefully I'll be the Lamar of 2010, not Dallas Lamar, the old Lamar." ESPN.com
