Sendek will also hire Larry Greer, who was an assistant for the Trail Blazers last season and worked as a scout for Houston. Greer was a former college assistant at Wright State and Boston University. Arizona State will announce the hires Tuesday, a source told ESPN.com. Former Portland Trail Blazers assistant coach Larry Greer has accepted an offer from Arizona State University to fill the same role under men's head basketball coach Herb Sendek, CSNNW.com has learned. Sendek wanted to add a coach to his 2012-13 staff who had previous NBA level coaching experience and Greer fits that requirement. CSNNW.com

The Portland Trail Blazers have promoted advance scout Larry Greer to assistant coach, and added former guard Dan Dickau as a player development assistant. Blazers head coach Nate McMillan also announced that he has retained assistants Bernie Bickerstaff, Bob Ociepka, Buck Williams, Kaleb Canales and Dean Cooper. ESPN.com

Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan plans to promote advance scout Larry Greer to assistant coach to replace the departed Bill Bayno, a team source has told The Oregonian. The Blazers are finalizing Greer's contract, but it is 99 percent complete and the source expects the deal to become official within the next few days. Greer has been an NBA scout for six seasons, including the last four with the Blazers. He worked two seasons with the Houston Rockets, under coach Jeff Van Gundy, prior to joining the Blazers.
