Sources say Milwaukee, however, was not willing to put Ellis or Ilyasova into the deal. Which left the Hawks with two choices: Trade Smith to Milwaukee for a package featuring Beno Udrih's expiring contract paired with forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute … or keep Smith beyond the deadline and risk seeing him walk away from Atlanta in the summertime without compensation. Bucks coach Scott Skiles said he is not sure when forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute will return to the lineup. Mbah a Moute has been working out with his teammates but has yet to go through a full practice. But the Bucks have little practice time at the moment due to a heavy schedule which has them playing Friday and Saturday, then Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week. "I suppose it's possible he says any day, 'I'm ready to go,'" Skiles said. "I don't have any definitive information about tomorrow, though." Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

The chances of Luc Mbah a Moute being ready for the Milwaukee Bucks’ regular-season opener are becoming increasingly remote. Mbah a Moute, unequivocally the team’s best and most versatile defender, has yet to practice with the team after undergoing offseason knee surgery. The Bucks’ regular-season opener is Nov. 2 against the Celtics in Boston. “I’m coming along; I’m feeling pretty good, feeling better every day,” Mbah a Moute said. “ I feel like I’m making a lot of progress, so I’m excited. Milwaukee Bucks forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute remembers the NBA as a faraway place. Making it a reality hardly seemed possible. "The closest I got to the NBA was getting up at 3 a.m. to watch games on TV," said Mbah a Moute, who grew up with five brothers and three sisters in Cameroon. "When I came to this camp and met Dikembe Mutombo, it was a dream come true. Not only could you see it, but feel it and live it." Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

Mbah a Moute, who will turn 26 years old on Sept. 9, underwent surgery to repair his right patella tendon in May, following the 2011-'12 season. "I feel good. The knee is getting better," Mbah a Moute said. "I'm right on track to be back for the beginning of the season. I'm just excited to be healthy again." Mbah a Moute was a restricted free agent last year during the lockout and got a late start with the Bucks due to his contract situation, as Milwaukee matched a four-year, $19 million offer made by the Denver Nuggets. Then he immediately encountered problems with his knee, problems that continued throughout the season and limited him to 43 games (22 starts). Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

Warriors have also talked with Milwaukee Bucks about moving down to the 12th slot. The Bucks are looking to move up to secure one of the big men they like (John Henson, Tyler Zeller). If Thursday, Milwaukee believes Henson and Zeller will be gone (leaving them stuck with less-ready Meyers Leonard or Jared Sullinger and his back concerns), Bucks GM John Hammond may take the bait. Golden State could get Luc Mbah a Moute in return or even get Ekpe Udoh back. I’ve got to think Mark Jackson would prefer Ekpe Udoh. He had Ekpe playing his best ball before the Warriors (reluctantly) traded him to Milwaukee. Contra Costa Times
