A year later, Nogueira is a Toronto Raptor and he would like everyone to know he’s pretty psyched about it. “So happy,” he said. “It made me sad when the Hawks traded me. I was surprised, sad and mad. But when I heard about the trade to Toronto I'm so happy, because I know the guys from Toronto… I know a lot of staff, so I know they followed me five years ago and they believe in my game. When I heard about the trade to Toronto, that made me so happy, because I don't know, if I go to another team, I don't know if I have the same encouragement. Here, I believe in everybody and everybody believes in my game.” NBA.com

Finally, Lucas Nogueira returned to action in Spain. The Hawks’ first-round draft pick, returned to action for his Spanish League team Sunday. The center had eight points, of 4 of 4 shooting, and five rebounds in 14 minutes as Asefa Estudiantes Madrid defeated Bilboa Basket 86-80. Nogueira, who did not start, had not played since Dec. 7. He left the team and spent 10 weeks in the United States, in Los Angeles and Atlanta, rehabbing from a diagnosis of severe tendinitis in both knees. In Atlanta, he worked with Peachtree Orthopaedics Clinic, the same facility used by the Hawks. The Hawks selected Nogueira with the 16th overall pick in 2013. He signed to play another season in Spain’s ACB League to continue his development and add muscle to his 225-pound frame. Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Hawks first-round draft pick will have doctors affiliated with the team be a part of the rehabilitation of the severe tendinitis in his knees that has limited the center this season. Nogueira, who recently suspended his contract with his Spanish League team to seek additional medical advice on the ailing knees, will miss two months. He will split his rehabilitation between Atlanta and Los Angeles, where he also saw doctors about his condition, before eventually returning to play for Asefa Estudiantes Madrid. Nogueira and his agent elected to use Peachtree Orthopaedics Clinic, the same facility used by the Hawks, for his rehabilitation. It will allow the team to monitor Nogueira’s progress.
