Italian team Novipiu Casale is interested in signing Trey Johnson to replace the injured Matt Janning. Johnson has started the season in Italy with Banca Tercas Teramo but he was not able to debut due to an injury. In December Johnson returned to the NBA where he was signed by the New Orleans Hornets with whom he averaged 1.9ppg and 1.1rpg in 11 games. Sportando

It's unclear if the impending NBA lockout is causing teams to hold more free agent workouts or I'm just hearing about them for the first time this offseason, but the Indiana Pacers became the latest team to invite non-rookies in for a look-see this week. The Pacers are holding a two-day free agent camp that began Monday and will wrap up Tuesday afternoon. Through a source with knowledge of the workout, Ridiculous Upside has a partial list of the invitees. The guard prospects included Bobby Brown, Matt Janning, Javaris Crittenton and Sylven Landesberg. The wings participating include NBA veterans James White (better known as "Flight" because he can do this), DeMarre Carroll and Ime Udoka. As far as big men go, Rob Kurz, Leo Lyons, Chris Daniels and Trent Plaisted were all in attendance on Monday. Ridiculous Upside

The Oklahoma City Thunder have been one of the more proactive NBA teams when it comes to taking advantage of its D-League counterpart in the Tulsa 66ers, but they'll take a look at a host of other free agents Tuesday and Wednesday during a free agent mini-camp according to sources with knowledge of the workout. The Thunder have invited guards Blake Ahearn, Matt Janning, Jerome Dyson and Marquez Haynes; wings Bobby Simmons, James Singleton, DeMarre Carroll and Joe Alexander; and bigs Ryan Reid, Latavious Williams, Arinze Onuaku, Marquis Gilstrap, Tony Gaffney, Rob Kurz and Stephane Lasme. Those names are fluid, however, meaning a few more could be added to the list by the time workouts are actually underway. Ridiculous Upside

Among the free agents the Wolves will work out Thursday and Friday are former NBA players Quincy Douby, Orien Greene, J.R. Giddens, Steven Hunter, Cedric Jackson, Matt Janning, Alexander Johnson, Jerel McNeal, James Singleton and John Thomas; second-year players who played in the D-League last season including Matt Bouldin and DeShawn Sims; former Memphis guard Darius Washington Jr. who is most famous for missing clutch free-throws; former D-League standout James Mays who spent the last two seasons in China and Turkey; and a fellow by the name of Chris Daniels who either attended college in Georgia or at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (I'm guessing it's the latter). The Phoenix Suns completed a flurry of roster moves today in the wake of starting center Robin Lopez's injury. The team's interest in signing former Knicks big man Earl Barron was noted yesterday and he cleared his physical today. To consummate the signing, the team waived guard Matt Janning, who escaped the preseason's roster cuts but had not been active through the Suns' first 10 games. Janning had been a favorite throughout the Summer League and preseason, but back-up point guard Goran Dragic's stellar early season play made Janning expendable, given the situation. SB Nation

Suns.com: First off, congratulations on signing with the Suns. Matt Janning: It’s a thrill. I don’t even really know how to explain it. I’ve talked to my family, and everybody around me is very excited. It is an awesome feeling. With my time in Las Vegas, I felt comfortable with the system, the coaching staff and the players. They seem to really know what they’re doing, so it could prove to be a really good fit. Right now, I’m thinking about training camp and making the roster. That’s what’s on my mind. I like the team. The Suns have had great chemistry over the years. They’ve played well together. Learning behind guys like Steve Nash, Grant Hill and Goran Dragic will be an amazing experience. As a young guy, you couldn’t ask for a better crew to step into and watch and learn from both on and off the court. I’m really excited about it all. NBA.com

Janning: They liked me as an overall player. My versatility playing at the one and the two with both guard positions are very beneficial to learning the NBA game and the overall transition. They liked my basketball IQ. It’s always good hearing it from those guys. That always gives me a little extra boost. I can do a lot of things. Put me at the one, and I can be someone who can distribute the ball, find other guys and score at the same time. I’m very comfortable playing off the ball, as well. As for rebounding, I don’t know if I just have a knack for it or what. I try to emphasize it. Somebody has to do some of the little things. It can really get your game going if you can get in the flow, mix it up a bit and get a few rebounds. That can only help you. NBA.com
