First Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade throws Mike Bibby's shoe during Game 1. Now, Wade has taken what appears a playful feud to another level. When asked about Bibby Wednesday, Wade decided to take a verbal jab at his former teammate. "We know Mike has made more shots in this series than he made all last year (with the Heat)," Wade said. "Send that to Mike." South Florida Sun-Sentinel

He and Wade were first linked in the series-opener. When Bibby lost his one shoe in the backcourt during the second quarter, Wade picked it up and tossed it out bounds while play was still going. The Knicks still scored on other end, but Bibby glared at Wade after the incident. "I'd never done that before, but it was fun," Wade said after the game. "I love messing with Mike, with Bibbs." When point guard Mike Bibby sought his release from woeful Washington last February in order to join the Miami Heat, he was willing to give up all his 2011-12 salary, the final year of his contract. That was a cool $6.2 million. As it turns out, Bibby lost $3.9 million for this season when salaries are prorated due to the lockout and that he was able to sign a minimum $1.35 million deal with the New York Knicks. But he has no regrets. "Not at all," Bibby said before Friday's game against the Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena. "I'm glad I made the decision. I just think that Miami was a better place for me than Washington… Everything isn't about money. The money is always good but everything isn't about money." FOXSports Florida

Bibby admits he's "struggling a little bit." But he knows he's no longer the player who averaged a career-high 21.1 points with Sacramento in 2005-06. "I know my role," said Bibby, who was traded by the Kings to Atlanta in February 2008 before being shipped to Washington last February, a place he didn't want to be. "I'm not the guy I was once was in Sacramento and a little bit part of Atlanta trying to score 20 points a game. I just come in there and try to open the floor for the guys and try to bring leadership and coaching out there on the court. "I want to play as long as I can. I think I still got stuff left, and we'll just have to see. I can't play 35 minutes a game anymore, but I still got a lot left." FOXSports Florida

Tyson Chandler and Mike Bibby practiced for the first time yesterday with the Knicks, but interim general manager Glen Grunwald’s work wasn’t done. He was holed up in his Westchester office, working like a machine, chasing ex-Knick Jamal Crawford and Mavericks’ unheralded point guard J.J. Barea, according to NBA sources. New York Post

Despite his wretched stint in Miami last season, the Knicks will roll the dice on point guard Mike Bibby. Bibby agreed to a one-year deal at the veteran’s minimum of $1.4 million, according to NBA sources. Bibby, 33, will be in camp today to sign. As reported in yesterday’s Post, the Knicks do not view Bibby as a starter over Toney Douglas. New York Post

Mike D’Antoni believes the Knicks will be OK at point guard with Toney Douglas, but the club is making a strong pitch for free-agent Mike Bibby as a potential backup. The Post reported in yesterday’s editions Bibby was a D’Antoni favorite and would be a likely target once starting point guard Chauncey Billups is waived via the amnesty clause. Last night, the Knicks were in talks with Bibby’s agent David Falk, who ironically is also the representative for Douglas. Bibby could actually find himself in a bench role, according to a source, because of the Knicks’ new emphasis on defense. Douglas is a tenacious defender and prides himself on that end of the court. Falk wouldn’t mind Bibby having a backup role to Douglas, who has a team option next season. New York Post

The Lakers swept the Nets to win the title. The Kings believed they would have done the same. “Everybody looked at it like we could have won it,” Bibby said. Asked how long that Game 7 loss stayed with him, Bibby said, “The games before that stayed with me longer than Game 7.” Because of the officiating, presumably. “I didn’t say anything about the refs,” he said. “Just, heartbreaking losses.” New York Times

Mike Bibby: Our main goal when we were in Sacramento was to stop Shaq. We knew Kobe was going to do what he had to do, but our main thing was to stop Shaq. Getting there, double-teaming, making sure he didn't have no easy looks and just trying to make it tough for him. His presence out there is just ... I remember like it was yesterday, going out there and seeing how big of a person he was, and stuff like that. NBA.com

Mike Bibby: I think it was all a ploy. You see the way he talks, and his personality and stuff. I don't think he meant any of it. That's just the way he is. Chris Webber: I don't want to start nothing with him, but I always felt I played Shaq good. Because I had long arms and I went for the low block. So what I wanted to do was to keep my arm out in front of him, on his back, dig at his dribbles, tell the people to come help me if I needed help. I learned a lot from Scottie Pippen, checking me that way. You never got comfortable. So I didn't want to give him a comfort zone. And, you want to move out of the way because you don't want to flop. Because you really can't; he's that strong. I didn't want to front him because he was taller than me, and I didn't trust the help on the other side... NBA.com
