The Phoenix Suns are actively shopping big man Miles Plumlee in advance of the Feb. 19 trade deadline, according to league sources. Sources told ESPN.com ‎that the Suns are working in conjunction with Plumlee's agent, Mark Bartelstein, to try to find a new home for the third-year center, who has seen his playing time steadily dwindle as the season has progressed. The Suns are believed to be seeking at least one future first-round pick for the 26-year-old, who was selected 26th overall by Indiana in ‎the 2012 draft, one year before brother Mason was selected No. 22 overall by Brooklyn in the 2013 draft. ESPN.com

Plumlee played four years under Team USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski at Duke, and he's a Nike guy. These two facts were bound to be mentioned when discussing his surprising selection. After a 114-55 -- not a typo -- win over Finland on Saturday, he addressed the matter. "I'm very proud that I went to Duke and I'm very proud that I wear Nike, and that has nothing to do with it," Plumlee said, via Ball in Europe. "If you were at our practices and our training camp, anybody that was there, they would see why I made the team." CBSSports.com

The Pacers got a key veteran piece for a title run in Scola, a 33-year-old who is efficiently averaging 8.4 points and 5.2 rebounds in 18.1 reserve minutes per game while shooting 50 percent. The Suns got a core piece of their future in a budding, athletic 25-year-old on the second year of an affordable four-year rookie contract. “I think it’s perfect,” Plumlee said of the trade. “It’s nothing but good feelings. I miss all my former teammates and I’m happy for their success, but I’m really happy with our team’s success and I still want to beat them. Arizona Republic

How do you feel about your two other former rookies (Miles Plumlee, Ben Hansbrough) no longer being with the team? Orlando Johnson: "Ah, man. It was tough. They know it’s a business. I’m happy that I’m here and I know they’re happy where they’re at now. Ben’s overseas and Miles is in Phoenix. Miles feels like he’ll get a better opportunity there to play and that’s great for him. I’m excited where I’m at and I know we got some good things happening here in Indiana. I’m ready to get it rolling, man. September 27 needs to hurry up and get here." NBA.com

While most of the focus on the Suns' return centered around the pick -- which would give the team up to three first-round selections in the 2014 NBA Draft -- McDonough told Arizona Sports 620's Burns and Gambo that he's also excited about what Green and Plumlee can bring to the roster in the short term. "Miles Plumlee looked very good for the Pacers Summer League for the second year in a row," McDonough said. "He's a good rebounder going back to his days at Duke. I like his character, rebounding and athleticism and think he will fit right in." Arizona's Sports Page
