With Anthony sitting this one out, the Knicks have no player on Team USA (Tim Hardaway Jr. is on the practice team in Las Vegas training camp). But Prigioni is excited Anthony rejoined his team in New York. “When I saw Melo re-sign, the first thing I did was send him a message saying that I was so happy to have a chance to still play with him,” Prigioni said. “And I told him that I’m sure we will play much better next season.” New York Post

So Phil’s got to get a star if he loses Anthony. I’ve heard this one: The Knicks get Noah and the Bulls get Tyson Chandler, a good expiring deal so they can go after Kevin Love next year, and Iman Shumpert, who is from Chicago and a good defender who Thibs would like and Pablo Prigioni, a good backup point if they lose Augustin and Hinrich. The Bulls gets three for one. How could they pass on that? Oh, right, they give up the only good player in the deal. Just what the Knicks might be thinking regarding Anthony. NBA.com

Chandler then was asked if he was surprised Woodson took out a unit that had built a five-point lead early in the fourth quarter spearheaded by Pablo Prigioni and Andrea Bargnani. “A little,’’ Chandler said. “It is what it is.’’ New York Post

The Knicks are expecting Pablo Prigioni (broken toe) to return after missing 16 games, and Woodson indicated the veteran point guard might start alongside Raymond Felton in the backcourt. A return to that smaller alignment likely would push Andrea Bargnani to the bench, with Anthony manning the power forward spot. New York Daily News

Pablo Prigioni, who hasn’t played since Dec. 16 with a broken toe, said an X-ray taken earlier this week “looked really, really good.” He hopes to resume running Saturday or Sunday, and Woodson estimated it would be “probably another couple of weeks, maybe, a week or two” before Prigioni is available. Point guard Kyle Lowry is still with the Raptors, and Pablo Prigioni is still the starting point guard for the Knicks. While Lowry surely will move somewhere, there’s a chance Prigioni will stay right where he is — as the Knicks’ starter even when Raymond Felton returns from his hamstring injury. According to a source, coach Mike Woodson doesn’t like to have a player lose his starting job via injury, but if the Knicks are rolling when Felton is ready to go, Woodson could still stick with Prigioni. There is a concern in the organization Felton will have trouble recovering fully from a nagging hamstring pull and pinched nerve in his hip — which is why the Knicks went full bore after Lowry.
