Every indication points to Rick Adelman returning as coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, president Flip Saunders said, apparently resolving one of the many prominent issues in front of Saunders early in his tenure as head of basketball operations. NBA.com

“We’ve talked every day, every other day,” Saunders said during a break at the adidas Eurocamp. “He talks about his staff, he talks about players. We were talking the other day about offenses that I ran, offenses that he ran. Talking just the basketball talk. The talks that we’ve had leads me to believe that he’s going to be back. “My assumption is just like when I coached. No one really asked me if I was coming back or not. You’re under contract. You’re part of expectations…. And if something changes, then we’ll change as it does. That’s part of what the NBA is all about. Adapting to changes. But I believe he’s going to be back. Mary Kay has made some progress, so that’s the positive. I hope he’s back because I know if he’s back that means that she’s making good progress and getting back on good health. That’s what all our hopes are for.” NBA.com

"Every time I've talked to him, he has never said he isn't coming back. My sense is that he's planning on coming back unless he tells me otherwise." St. Paul Pioneer Press

There has been speculation that Kevin Love will opt-out of his contract in 2015 because the Minnesota Timberwolves forward isn't happy with the organization and how it treated him when it gave him a four-year, $62 million deal instead of the five-year, $80 million maximum designation in 2012. But Flip Saunders, the Wolves' new president of basketball operations, told 1500 ESPN on Tuesday that he has talked to Love and doesn't think there needs to be any repair between the organization and the player. "I don't think so," Saunders said. 1500 ESPN

Has anything been decided with Rick yet? David Kahn: Not to my knowledge, no. And I think it’s a little premature still. I think people are positioning it as a decision. There’s no doubt in my mind that Rick Adelman wants to come back, hopes to come back and we’re all optimistic he will come back. We’re all similarly hopeful that his wife does not have another medical emergency that would prevent him from doing so. Minneapolis Star-Tribune

Turner, one of the league's most respected assistants, has worked much of his career with Adelman and the two are very close. ESPN.com

Taylor indicated he wants to know Adelman's status for next season before deciding on Kahn. Adelman said before Monday’s home finale against Utah that he hopes to decide his future in the few weeks after the season ends Wednesday night in San Antonio, and after he and his wife, Mary Kay, meet with more doctors about how to prevent her seizures. “I think there are questions,” Budinger said when asked if he thinks Adelman will return. “He has always been family first and, with his wife it’s going to be family first. But knowing him, he loves to coach. He loves this team. So it’s a tough decision for him to leave.” Minneapolis Star-Tribune
