Mozgov, a 7'1" center from St. Petersburg, told Izvestia that he'd like to see more Russians play together in the NBA, noting that Andrei Kirilenko and Alexey Shved joined forces in Minnesota last season. But he said, in answer to a question, just being Russian isn't a good enough qualification. "I do not think that this can be a major factor," said Mozgov. " The factors should, in principle, be many. And all of them should be for the good for the team. So, first you need to carefully examine the composition of Brooklyn. If there is a place for me, then anything can happen." NetsDaily

Free agent center Timofey Mozgov is in negotiations with the Denver Nuggets on a multi-year contract to re-sign with the franchise, a league source told RealGM. Ever since making changes within the organization, the Nuggets have become more interested in re-signing Mozgov, trading away Kosta Koufos on draft night. Mozgov has already received a qualifying offer from the Nuggets, but the parameters of a new deal have been discussed as a possible three-year contract with an option on the final season, a source told RealGM. Mozgov stated that his current role in Denver does not suit him. About playing no minutes in the series against Golden State: "It is hard to take. But how could I make a difference? Quarreling with Karl? Complaining about the coach? All I could do was wait for a chance. I was completely healthy and eager to fight. However, Karl continued to trust others. I love this club, this city. But of course, the current role does not suit me. And I'm not going to continue to get paid for sitting on the bench. Sport Express

Timofey Mozgov: "So, if the offer comes, nobody (me and my agents for sure) will be surprised. But looking at the big picture, no matter if it happens or not, my future will be set after July 1. This is the date after which I will be able to receive offers from any club in the NBA. This is when we are going to see the full picture. During that period we are going to decide what we should do." Rush'n Hoops

At this point, Mozgov wants to deflect his impending free agency to the side and focus on the Nuggets’ playoff run. Mozgov had been expected to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and he told RealGM that he hasn’t heard any indication about a possible qualifying offer tender from the Nuggets and isn’t worrying about where he could play next season. “I don’t want to think right now about what is going on in the summer,” Mozgov said. “Now we have playoff time … games we got to win. It will be a time for [a decision] in the summer.” RealGM
