Trey Burke’s confidence has always been his greatest asset. “I’m going to try to be a franchise player,” Burke said Friday at the NBA predraft combine in Chicago. “A guy that’s going to come right in and make an impact right away. You’ve seen (Portland’s) Damian Lillard come in and win Rookie of the Year and people were saying he played in too small of a conference and things like that. They had their doubts about him. I’m going to try to come in, make an impact and hopefully in five or six years I’ll have a ring or two. That’s the goal." Detroit Free Press

Later Thursday, Burke is slated for at least six more interviews with pro squads. Does he have one with the Detroit Pistons? "No, I don't," Burke said Thursday. "I was actually surprised. But talking to my father (and agent, Benji Burke), he said some teams do that just to not let other teams know that they're interested (in a player). I don't know. I don't think they're going to bring me in for an interview." Booth Newspapers

Magic officials already have scouted the likes of Kentucky Wildcats center Nerlens Noel, Kansas Jayhawks shooting guard Ben McLemore and Michigan Wolverines point guard Trey Burke for months and months. Until now, however, the Magic and other NBA teams haven't been permitted to sit down and speak with any draft prospect. General manager Rob Hennigan and assistant general managers Scott Perry and Matt Lloyd will conduct the Magic's player interviews, which were expected to begin Wednesday night and likely will include Noel, McLemore and Burke. Each team may interview a maximum of 18 players, and each session may last a maximum of 30 minutes. Orlando Sentinel

Asked earlier this week on WWJ to give his thoughts on possibly playing for the Pistons next season, the former Wolverine said he'd be all in. "Absolutely (I would)," Trey Burke said. "A lot of people ask me where I want to play, I really don't care, it's just a blessing to be in the NBA. But I'd definitely want to play for the Detroit Pistons. I know Joe Dumars really well, the fan base is right there in Michigan." Booth Newspapers

Former Michigan guard Trey Burke will be represented by his father, Benji, as he prepares for June’s NBA draft. Benji Burke confirmed the news Thursday and said Trey will be in Chicago next week for the NBA’s pre-draft camp. The Burkes will be in a new division of the Infinite Sports Group, a primarily NFL-based agency that was founded by Alonzo Shavers, a cousin of Benji Burke’s. Detroit Free Press

Burke certainly will get a look as the potential No. 1 pick if the Magic draft there. The other team that seems to fit Burke are the Pelicans. Yes, Greivis Vasquez is coming off a breakout season, but Burke is a totally different player and could complement Vazquez coming off the bench early on. The Pelicans' other big need is at small forward. Shabazz Muhammad could get a look here. So could Croatia's Dario Saric. Sources say that the Pelicans are one of the two or three strongest suitors for Saric at the moment. ESPN.com

It was just a matter of time: Trey Burke is leaving Michigan for the NBA draft.Michigan's sophomore guard accomplished nearly everything he could in his two-year career – short of a national championship – and announced he is now submitting his name for the draft. "I've decided to declare for the 2013 NBA draft," Burke said at a press conference at Crisler Center. "It's always been a dream for me ... I'm fortunate and blessed." USA Today Sports

Michigan sophomore guard Trey Burke, the consensus national player of the year, will enter the NBA Draft, sources told Yahoo! Sports. Michigan has scheduled a news conference for Sunday afternoon, where Burke will formalize his decision. Most NBA executives project Burke to be a lottery pick. Yahoo! Sports

Michigan sophomore point guard Trey Burke says he still isn't sure where he'll be playing basketball next season. It'll be at Michigan or somewhere in the NBA. But as of now, his mind isn't made up. "It's still up in the air," Burke said Friday live on ESPN's "SportsCenter." "It's a decision I'll definitely be announcing here in the next couple days." "It'll definitely be a tough decision, just like last year." Booth Newspapers

Michigan point guard Trey Burke said Friday on ESPN's SportsCenter he still hasn't made a decision on his basketball future, but that it will come in the next couple days. Since Michigan's loss in the national championship game to Louisville, Burke, as well as Tim Hardaway Jr., Glenn Robinson III and Mitch McGary, is expected to make a decision on whether to stay in Ann Arbor another year or head to the fortunes of the NBA draft in June. Today, after sports and entertainment attorney Darren Heitner tweeted a day earlier that Hardaway and Trey Burke have decided to leave and are already weighing their decision, the players got to answer for themselves. “I have not discussed anything about going to the NBA or anything like that,” Hardaway said, emphatically. “That’s their way of putting things out there, getting things started to distract us, but our main focus is on Syracuse and the University of Michigan playing on Saturday. That’s for myself, Trey and all the other guys on the team, that the guy out there on Twitter put out. I’m not worried at all right now and am focused on Syracuse.” Detroit Free Press

Burke's virtuoso performance against Kansas in the second half may have been the best single-game performance by a player this season, and now many NBA GMs and scouts have him ranked as the second-best point guard in the draft after Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart. Burke will have to go head to head against our No. 3-rated point guard prospect on Saturday. Can he score over the length of the Syracuse zone? Two more great performances by Burke could seal his spot in the top seven picks. ESPN.com

Ronda Burke hadn't even heard about the report Thursday that her son, Trey, had decided to turn pro. She didn't need to. "He has not made any decision," Ronda told Yahoo! Sports Thursday afternoon, when reached by phone. She went on to say she didn't believe Trey had even spoken to anyone outside the family about his plans. "Trey is focused on playing the games." Twenty-four hours earlier, Ronda Burke said the same thing, even more emphatically, when asked about her son's pending decision. "With all of this? Really?" she said. "The discussion has been that shot. The discussion has been Mitch McGary, Nik Stauskas. That's what we've been discussing. We don't have time for anything else." Yahoo! Sports
