New Orleans Pelicans general manager Dell Demps says guard Tyreke Evans has a strained right hamstring that is expected to require about three to five weeks of rehabilitation. Demps says the injury occurred while Evans was playing in a pickup basketball game away from team headquarters last week. Demps says Evans has returned to New Orleans to work with team medical and training staff and hopes to be cleared to play before the regular season opener on Oct. 28 against the Orlando Magic. There is a sense around the league that the Pelicans would be open to moving Eric Gordon and possibly Austin Rivers; however, deals involving Ryan Anderson, Tyreke Evans or Jrue Holiday are not of much interest to the Pelicans and without question former top pick Anthony Davis is off the board. New Orleans Pelicans swingman Tyreke Evans said on his Instagram account on Wednesday evening he has undergone a successful surgery. Evans posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed with the caption: "Surgery went great!! Can't wait to start my re-hab & get back on the court with my teammates !! @van_smack on my side with the support!" It's unclear exactly what Evans had surgery to repair or when the procedure took place, although he was plagued by left ankle issues throughout the season. New Orleans Times-Picayune

Since he was inserted in the starting lineup against the Phoenix Suns last week, New Orleans Pelicans swingman Tyreke Evans said he feels more comfortable than he did coming off the bench. In two games as a starter, Evans has averaged 18.0 points. ‘’I just know how to attack or make a play better when I’m starting,’’ Evans said. ‘’I’ve been starting my entire career and I’m comfortable at that position.’’ Williams said the move was prompted because they weren’t playing well and Al-Farouq Aminu hadn’t been able to overcome inconsistency. ``We’re trying to find lineups that are going to help us play better,’’ Williams said. ``He’s (Evans) been effective in the starting lineup.’’ New Orleans Times-Picayune
