The Pistons will have a decision to make on Kravtsov at the end of the season. They have a team option to bring him back for 2013-14. Kravtsov is again committed to his national team as it participates in Eurobasket competition in August. If Kravtsov is coming back, it might help him prepare for a bigger role next season if he gets to spend more time than he did last summer at the team’s practice facility, when he didn’t get the opportunity to work with coaches until completion of his Eurobasket commitment just a few weeks before the start of training camp. “That can never hurt,” Hill said. “That would help him as far as his skill development. At the defensive end of it, I don’t know how much it would help because there’s no opportunity, other than Summer League, to play five on five. It would definitely help from a skill-development standpoint, though.” NBA.com

Kravtsov's signing has been delayed because the buyout of his one remaining year on a contract with his current team still had to be resolved, though Pistons assistant general manager George David said this week that he did not expect the buyout to be an issue. Kravtsov told the Ukrainian website segodnya.ua that he signed a two-year, $3 million contract to play for the Pistons. Booth Newspapers

One person who has watched Ukrainian center Vyacheslav Kravtsov says the 7-footer will impact the Pistons positively this season. Jonathan Givony, president of the website DraftExpress.com, has scouted Kravtsov extensively over the past few years and said this past season he dominated the Ukrainian League and is ready for the challenge of the NBA. "He destroyed that league this year and he took a big step forward this season," Givony said Wednesday before boarding a plane for Lithuania to scout the FIBA U17 World Championship. "You don't find 7-footers that are that athletic." Detroit Free Press
