La La Anthony Rumors

With all due respect to Anthony’s wife, La La Anthony, her recent proclamation that her husband was “definitely” going to re-sign in New York wasn’t enough to allay the Knicks’ concerns. They know full well that making roster improvements sooner rather than later would increase their chances of Anthony re-signing, meaning the Knicks are known to be on the lookout for a blockbuster-type deal and still are hoping against hope that it involves Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo.
In La La Anthony’s new book, “The Love Playbook,” she also attempts to clarify the trash-talking feud between Carmelo and former Celtics star Kevin Garnett that led to an altercation — purportedly about crude comments Garnett made about La La — following a game last season. “I wasn’t ever going to bring up the Honey Nut Cheerios incident again. But since I’m writing this book, I might as well set the record straight for good,” La La writes in the book, which was released Tuesday. “Kevin Garnett in fact had never said that I tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios. “. . . Melo and Kevin are cool today. And now it’s nothing but a faint memory. “I did notice during the game Melo and Kevin were jawing a lot at each other. But that’s basketball, the heat of the game. I really didn’t think anything of it,” she continued. “But when Melo went to have words with him, I knew it had to be more than an in-game beef.”
La La Anthony “definitely” thinks her husband, free-agent-to-be Carmelo Anthony, will re-sign with the New York Knicks this summer. “I definitely think he will stay [in New York]. I know that he wants to stay and I support him wherever he wants to go,” La La Anthony said in an interview with Bravo TV’s “Watch What Happens Live.” “Listen, I used to live in Denver with him. If I can live in Denver, I can live anywhere. I just want him to be happy.”
Anthony’s wife, LaLa Vazquez, won’t be in Denver for the game, preventing potential ugliness in the stands in what’s expected to be an emotional night for fans. There is wide perception that Vazquez was the driving force behind Anthony’s desire to become a Knick. She is a New York native, an actress and television host who landed her own reality show once back in New York. Anthony said that perception about his wife is far from the truth. “It wasn’t mutual at all,” Anthony said. “Actually, she didn’t want me to go. I would never put my wife out there on the line like that. She had nothing to do with the trade. Nothing at all.”
Hours after Carmelo Anthony showed his game was just fine in the Garden, he told The Post his marriage was just fine at home as well. The Knicks star vehemently — and repeatedly — denied his marriage was on the rocks, and that he was estranged from wife La La. “Hell no,’’ Anthony told The Post yesterday at Cipriani Club 55, shortly after starting at power forward and pouring in a game-high 27 points and seven rebounds to lead the Knicks to a 100- 87 win over New Orleans at the Garden. “Hell no we’re not [living separately].’’
Sources add that La La’s also been partying with girlfriends from Mexico to Miami, which has displeased Melo and “made him angry.” According to multiple sources, the pair had been seeking a new home over the summer and were checking out apartments in TriBeCa for up to $25,000 a month. But the search cooled along with the relationship. “During the summer they were looking for a new apartment constantly,” said a source. “About two months ago, that completely dried up. They don’t even return their brokers’ phone calls anymore.”
Carmelo and La La Anthony have been living separately, sources say, but friends close to the Knick’s wife say she’ll stand by her man and won’t split from the NBA star. “It is true they haven’t seen much of each other in the past few months,” says a friend of the couple. “She’s been away a lot filming her show, ‘La La’s Full Court Life,’ in London, New York and LA. They are not separated and are still together. She and Melo have a house in LA — so she’s always there when she’s doing auditions.” But others say they’ve been going through a more rocky period. “They have been living separately for several months now,” says a source. “She’s been living in LA while Carmelo has been in New York.” The source added, “La La used to go out to the games and wanted to be seen . . . now she’s always off doing her own thing.”
La La Anthony has something to prove. After years of being a successful TV host, radio deejay and reality-show star, she wants to be known as an actress. “I’m going to make it in that space,” she says from Los Angeles, where she lives when she’s not in New York with her husband, Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony. She’s already working on the acting thing. She’s in the midst of making “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man,” a film based on the popular book by Steve Harvey.
