Montepaschi Siena Rumors
Kim English on Twitter confirmed the deal with Montepaschi Siena. The former Pistons wrote CIAO on Twitter and then said thanks to the people who congratuled him for the deal.
Jorge Sierra: Kim English’s contract with Montepaschi Siena includes an NBA out till August 22, one of the sources told us. So there.
Free agent guard Kim English has signed a contract with Euroleague powerhouse Montepaschi Siena, two sources told HoopsHype.
The Denver Nuggets traded for Green’s rights on draft night and plan to stay connected with Siena coach Marco Crespi regarding the guard’s development next season. Denver has a full roster of contracts and had been limited on flexibility to sign Green for the 2013-14 season.
Montepaschi Siena made official the signing of Dionte Chrismtas. The American guard was free agent after his short stint in Russia with CSKA Moscow. Christmas started the season in NBA with Boston Celtics who cut him during the training camp.
Word is that Dallas made a determined push this spring to try extricate speedy point guard Bobby Brown of Cal State Fullerton fame from his Italian team Montepaschi Siena, but the price was too high to get the 28-year-old during the season. Brown has been one of the best players in Europe in 2012-13 and, after stints with the Kings, Wolves, Clippers and Hornets, is expected to return to the NBA next season with several teams interested.
Bobby Brown, in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, denied the report that he may leave Siena for the NBA this season. “NBA? I read about that. But I am in Siena, I love being here and I will stay here. At the beginning of the season, I had to learn how to play in Serie A. I want to be the leader of the team. Coming to Siena was the right choice for me. There is a winning tradition and I want to win. It is the best team where I have played in my entire career, NBA included. I feel like at home. I love the city and the people. To stay? It is a possibility. I want to play where I am a key player in the roster. I don’t want to come off the bench. I want to be right player for my team. But it is too early to talk about my future, let’s think about this season” said Brown.
After several years bouncing between Europe and the NBA, Brown, 28, has had a breakout professional season with Siena. Nevertheless, the franchise’s financial issues may leave the organization open to a buyout of his contract, sources said. Several NBA teams have inquired about the possibility of signing him as a backup point guard.
Montepaschi Siena (Italy) guard Bobby Brown, the presumable MVP of the Euro Basketball League, could become a free agent and available to sign in the NBA this season, sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Bo McCalebb released a long interview to Tuttosport. The PG of Mens Sana Siena didn’t want to talk about his future because he is too focused on the Serie A Playoffs who will start today with Montepaschi facing Cimberio Varese in the quarterfinals. “European basket is very tough. If we reach the final, we will finish the season at the end of June and on July 2 we have the first game of the Pre- Olympic Tournament. NBA? It is obvious that I would love to play there but this is not the right moment to think about that. I am too focused on Siena and the playoffs. My future? As I have just said, it is too early to talk. At the end of the season we will sit with Siena and talk” said McCalebb who has still contract with Montepaschi Siena for the next two years.
Emiliano Carchia: According to same rumors (Il Corriere dello Sport): Siena will keep David Andersen and Bo McCalebb (both have contracts).
Emiliano Carchia: Roger Montgomery, agent of Sonny Weems, just denied to Sportando that Weems has been offered to Siena. Weems is with Zalgiris

Siena decided the day after the loss to part ways with Summers. Sportando, an Italian web site, reported he “did not perform as expected.” “The team doesn’t really lose,” Summers said. “They wanted to make sure we didn’t lose games because the team we lost to was a bad team. But I didn’t play that many minutes in the game. I wasn’t out there long. “I don’t know. I can’t put my finger on a precise thing. I guess they thought I wasn’t happy. That wasn’t the case. I can’t understand why they felt that strongly to make the move they made. I couldn’t get a grasp on what they expected from me and how to approach the game with the team.”
Summers was also given a Volkswagen by the team, but he quickly learned the difficulties of driving in Italy. On his second day in town, his car was rear-ended as he drove to practice. He was taken to the hospital, and his inability to speak Italian made it difficult for him to get help until someone realized he played for the local basketball team. By then, Summers’ girlfriend had already received a call from a team official alerting her that Summers hadn’t made it to practice. She was happy to eventually learn he had suffered only whiplash in the accident. “I got hit by a small SUV on my blind side of the passenger side,” Summers said. “When I got hit, I ended up on the other side of the car in the backseat. That’s how hard I got hit. I was just shocked. I never have been in an accident like that. “People here drive much different. It’s not as organized as back home, driving in-between lines. You got to be more alert.”
The team gave Summers and his girlfriend and daughter a nice three-bedroom house in Siena’s countryside. But though Siena is a popular Italian tourist destination, Summers had trouble adapting to living in a small town – and he thinks team officials picked up on it. “Kind of slow-paced,” Summers said.
Detroit Pistons forward DaJuan Summers is the latest NBA player coming home early from an overseas job. He left his Italian team after only four games. Any other American NBA player considering making a similar job to Europe or Asia during the ongoing lockout might want to talk to Summers first. “I would tell them to be prepared for any and everything because it’s a different world than what you are used to,” Summers told Yahoo! Sports in a phone interview from Italy.
Summers was still in Siena on Wednesday hoping to complete his buyout with the team. He has received some interest from two European teams, including one in Italy, but plans on returning to Maryland to spend time with his ill mother. If and when the lockout ends, he’ll be back on the NBA’s free-agent market.
DaJuan Summers is no longer a player of Montepaschi Siena. Former Detroit Pistons forward did not perform as expected and the Italian reigning champs decided to part ways with him. Summers was averaging 4ppg in 3 Serie A games and 4 points in the only game he has played in Euroleague. Montepaschi Siena has already an agreement with Omar Thomas who should replace him but is waiting for the decision of Federal Court which can ban him from competition for more than two years due to his false Slovenian passport used last year to play with Bosman status.
Ferdinando Minucci, president and GM of Montepaschi Siena, confirmed that DaJuan Summers, after the signing of Igor Rakocevic, risks to be waived. “We cannot hide that there are some problems with Summers. In the next days we will decide about his future. Despite he is an excellent player, he is having difficulties in adapting to European basketball. Usually we win our bets, with him not.
Emiliano Carchia: As per @Gazzetta_it, Siena still wants Il Mago who could practice with them during lockout to be in shape. Siena’s dream is to have Bargnani
Ferdinando Minucci, presidente of Italian Reigning champions Montepaschi Siena, opened the door to Toronto Raptors star Andrea Bargnani. “There are possibilities that Andrea Bargnani might play with us during the NBA lockout. He has a very good relationship with our coach Simone Pianigiani” said Ferdinando Minucci, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Andrea Centenari: In an interview with Corriere della Sera, Bargnani said that only Montepaschi Siena can afford to hire him http://twitpic.com/6rsknq
Toronto Raptors star is receiving a lot of proposals to play in Europe also by European top tems but Siena is ready to make a big offer for him when NBA will officially put off the beginning of the NBA season. In the meantime, Bargnani is thinking to extend his insurance even for the period after Eurobasket to get ready for a proposal to play overseas if he decides to play somewhere else during the lockout.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Montepaschi Siena is interested in Andrea Bargnani for the upcoming season, at least until NBA lockout ends. Il Mago has never talked about the possibility to return overseas during the lockout postponing any decision after Eurobasket where he is playing with Italian National Team.
