Sidney Lowe Rumors
I hear Sidney Lowe is in town, a visit that’s a prelude to him joining Flip Saunders’ staff as an assistant coach. It’s not a done deal yet, but is expected to be sometime soon. Lowe was an assistant under Flip with the Wolves and Detroit, too. The former North Carolina State worked as an assistant to former Wolves teammate Ty Corbin at Utah this last season.
When it’s all sorted out, Flip’s staff is expected to include former Wolves players Sam Mitchell and Sidney Lowe, although I’m not certain yet if either is a coach-in-waiting to take the job next. No word if one of Flip’s former players, Chauncey Billups, will become that former coach-in-waiting and it’s likely Flip’s son Ryan will eventually join the staff.
Former North Carolina State basketball coach Sidney Lowe has pleaded guilty to failing to file his North Carolina tax returns for three years. Lowe, who also played for the Charlotte Hornets during the 1988-89 season, entered his plea Wednesday in Wake County District Court before Judge Margaret Eagles. He received a suspended 45-day jail sentence, was placed on 36 months of unsupervised probation, must complete 100 hours of community service within the year and must pay more than $79,000 in restitution plus a $2,000 fine.
Jody Genessy: Jazz assistant Sidney Lowe’s case for alleged tax evasion in North Carolina has been continued until Sept. 18, per WNCN.com.
The Utah Jazz announced today that Brad Jones has been promoted to an assistant coach on Tyrone Corbin’s staff, after having spent the 2012-13 season as assistant coach/player development. Jones joins returning assistants Sidney Lowe and Michael Sanders on Corbin’s staff.
