Grunwald said the knicks can't acquire anyone in a sign and trade. Said the focus is on continuing to build the core.
Grunwald said it sounds like Jason Kidd will be back with the Knicks after talking to him at his exit meeting yesterday.
Raptors expect to name new GM in next 30 days
Grunwald said Kidd indicated he was coming back.
Raptors release: Colangelo extended as pres, reports directly to Leiweke. New GM will have final authority on bball related matters
The last 10 years, the team who won the #1 overall pick was previously slated to draft: 4th, 8th, 5th, 3rd, 9th, 6th, 5th, 6th, 1st and 2nd
Since the Bobcats were named after former owner Bob Johnson, they should be renamed Jumpmen.
After the lottery we'll have a good idea of who the top pick is. Noel still the favorite for most teams but McLemore, Oladipo, & Burke in it
Historically speaking Charlotte and Minnesota fans shouldn't get their hopes up and Blazers fans probably don't want to be 1st or 2nd.
History says Cleveland is the favorite to win as the 3rd slot in the Lottery has won the most frequently.
This is a lot of white noise that basically means a new person will be making the decisions that the fans care about.
After last summer I predicted the Magic would win the Lottery this year continuing the trend of teams losing stars winning the NBA Lottery.
The Raptors are keeping Bryan Colangelo because he knows all the best Portugese chicken places.
And hey, if we run out of time on the air, I'll shoot you an answer back here. Or not.
Colangelo's role as Raptors president will include consulting to Leiweke on basketball but also expanding Raptors footprint nationally. /3
New Raptors GM will have final say on draft, trades, contracts, coach etc. /2
Bryan Colangelo will be staying on with the Raptors is the role of president; new GM will report directly to Leiweke /1
SPOELSTRA: "Miami was never considered a big-market team until we put together this team, so it shows you can change perspective." Agree?
Colangelo call at Noon should be just as interesting
Tim Leiweke and Bryan Colangelo will have separate media conference calls today to discuss the Raptors' management restructuring.
Early morning gym … motivation? How about the fact that I can stop and get food on the way?
Re: "fired upward." Bryan wanted to continue to have GM job. He won't. This is not his preferred role.
And Bryan Colangelo will have a conference call at noon.
Being spoonfed information from the team you blog for isn't that impressive @netsdaily
Correction, no presser, but conference call at 11
Raps holding a conference call at 11 am to discuss changes to organization. Leiweke will be on it.
So, if BC is in NYC representing the Raps tonight, he'll essentially be doing so on the day he was fired (upward). Absurdity.
Raptors will be doing a release not a presser today
Hearing the Raps' official announcement on Colangelo will come shortly. All indications are a new role on biz side, open GM spot.
When discussing Amare quagmire, never forget that Knicks picked up Billups' $14M option at end of '10-11 and amnestyed him before '11-12.
Expect an official announcement regarding the end of the Colangelo era shortly.
... Just like we all assumed would be the case back in training camp in October right...
Knicks 2013 postseason: K-Mart outplayed Chandler, Prigioni badly outplayed Kidd, & Copeland scored more than Amar'e, Novak & Camby combined
See speculation NYK could "stretch" Amar'e. Only contracts signed under new CBA can be stretched. Amar'e deal pre-dates new CBA.
My favorite part of this Knicks postmortem so far is the people asking if They can trade Amar'e. Yeah, no
It's not a big deal, and the Raps only move up in 2.5% of scenarios. But, all this has done is delayed everything, is the point.
SVG: “I sort of laugh a little bit on jobs I supposedly interviewed for... but no job offers and I have not interviewed anywhere.”
brb hiring head-hunting firm to tell me top breakfast options.
The worst NBA lottery fate was suffered by T-Wolves, who had best odds in '93 but didn't land Shaq or Mourning. Got Laettner.
Like — what if Raps do finish top 3 in lottery tonight. Then they have no GM and a coach in limbo.
Jim Boeheim today ripped Carmelo Anthony's Knicks teammates for underachieving. And Boeheim knows underachieving.
In his first major act in charge of MLSE, Tim Leiweke has not covered himself in glory. This should have been done cleaner and more quickly.
So there's a reason for those teams w/ openings being patient.
5 legit head coaching candidates (for the several openings) w/ the 4 teams still playing: Fizdale, Shaw, Hollins, Joerger, Budenholzer.
NBA lottery is tonight, a good time to remind you the Bobcats have never kept a lottery pick longer than 5 years.
So, for all the waiting, MLSE is still going to effectively fire BC and still not have a replacement quite lined up. great that they waited.
Lots of talk about Garnett coming off the Celtics' books soon. Rondo comes off at the same time.
Rajon Rondo ($12 million) is signed for more money than Kevin Garnett ($11.5 million) next season.
MOORE, Okla. (AP) _ Medical examiner's office revises death toll from Oklahoma tornado to at least 24.
just a small bear romping through our yard in Auburn last night. (cover your sodas, Dewie loves sugar) http://t.co/kFe9joK2PC
Not absolving BC; his mistakes are many and well-known; but no single thing he did outweighs fact the No.1 pick in 2006 sucked. /6
Being a GM is like gambling -- you're going to lose, but big wins cover up mistakes. If Bargnani was a player today's story is different 5/
The Pistons will pick in the lottery for the fourth straight year, the longest stretch in franchise history.
He made errors, BUT: There is no 'sin' of Colangelo's that Bargnani couldn't have fixed if he was/wanted to be good as Dirk or Pau. /4
If the Raptors pick is not in the top three, it will go to Oklahoma City (via Houston).
The Kings will be making their seventh straight lottery selection, the longest active streak.
Refuse to care about Dwight Howard. A motto for our generation.
This is the 10-year anniversary of the Cavs selecting LeBron James No. 1 overall.
The Bobcats highest draft position in team history is second overall (Emeka Okafor in 2004; Michael Kidd-Gilchrist in 2012).
The Magic will make the 13th lottery pick in team history in June, but first since taking J.J. Redick in 2006.
Didn't Yahoo! already have the young crowd captured with pregnancy, drug and homework questions on Yahoo! Answers?
Looking back at Colangelo's 7 years with Raptors a few fact stand out. He busted ass; he took risks; he never sold Toronto short /3
Word is Ujiri is open to talk with Toronto, but loyal to Denver for obvious reasons. Will Nuggets step up with fat extension? Key issue. /2
According to league sources, Denver has not yet granted permission to the Raptors to talk directly with Masai Ujiri /1
David Robison was the other player to be selected ROY & make the postseason his rookie year. Robinson, Webber, Duncan & Rose ...
Maybe they can get Ujiri, but "underpaid" and "intrigued" usually means contract extension.
What Toronto's Plan B is if they can't get Masai Ujiri? They do have one, yes?
Since 1990, four overall No. 1 picks went on to win the Rookie of the Year award AND make the postseason. Can you name them?
Teams with fewest lottery selections: Lakers (2), Spurs (3), Jazz (6), Knicks (7), Heat (7)
Since the start of the lottery in 1985, 13 of the 28 No. 1 overall picks have gone on to win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award.
And it further goes to show how little people read anymore. That was Berman's report and people thought it was CBS bc of the URL.
Clippers (22), Warriors (20), Kings (17), Wolves (16), Cavs (15), Bucks (15) have made the most lottery selections since lottery began in 85
Knowing is half the battle.
I don't understand why JR would opt out just to sign for a fixed amount and not go shopping. That makes absolutely zero sense.
On the other end, Charlotte, Phoenix, Minnesota and Utah have never held the top pick.
Of the 14 teams in the lottery, Cleveland and Portland have made the most No. 1 overall picks with 4 each
Probably wrong to think this way, but whenever a guy like SVG takes name out of ring, I wonder what job he thinks might open up next year.
Since 1994, the team with (or tied for) the best odds has won 3 of the 19 lotteries - Sixers (96), Cavs (03), Magic (04)
Lottery odds cont'd: Pistons (3.6%), Wizards (3.5%), Wolves (1.7%), Blazes (1.1%), Sixers (0.8%), Raptors (0.7%), Mavs (0.6%), Jazz (0.5%)
If the Bobcats manage to snag the No. 1 pick and change to the Hornets in the same night, is it the best day in franchise history?
Jessica Ennis will compete in hurdles, javelin and long jump at Edinburgh's Meadowbank on June 8
Magic have best odds (25%) of winning lottery. Bobcats (19.9%), Cavs (15.6%), Suns (11.9%), Pelicans (8.8%), Kings (6.3%) odds ...
Those sending angry emails accusing me of "ignoring" Spurs all season. Please scroll through archive and control-F for "Manu" and "genius."
It's NBA Lottery Day everyone!!!! Draft Lottery tonight at 8:30 pm ET on ESPN. I'm in NY covering the event ...
Video brought tears to my eyes. I cant, & dont even try to, explain why terrible things like this happen. But I still believe in miracles.
Magic Sr. VP Pat Williams on SVG: "He has roots here. He's involved in so many things non basketball... We shouldn't be shocked, really."
Someone should remind Boeheim that Melo wanted NY.
"The trade has sparked me as a player," Tobias Harris told us. Said he dreamed of putting up the #'s he did in Orlando: 17.3 PPG, 8.5 RPG
If the Kings win the lottery, dibs on the first post comparing Nerlens Noel to Pervis Ellison.
.@Tobias31 just mentioned a few players that intrigue him in this NBA Draft class: Noel, McLemore, Bennett among others.
Happy NBA Lottery day fellow draft dorks.I'll be in Times Square covering the event. Good luck w/the ping-pong balls to fans of all 14 teams
She wasn't near the tornado in Moore, but her county was under a tornado warning last night. Not sure what happened. Just glad she's ok.
"Storms bad. Power and phone out. Trees down." But, Mom adds in her text, my 1st contact w/ her in 24 hours, "I am ok. I love you." Phew.
Daily verse: I'm willing to endure anything if it will bring salvation and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God has chosen. 2 Tim 2:10
How reliable/meaningful of a source is Jim Boeheim for NBA analysis, and, specifically, Cuse-related NBA analysis?
Tyson's real good, but a guy who was outplayed by Hibbert was going to have real trouble vs Ewing and The Admiral in that mythical matchup.
Stan Van Gundy: "The longer you are out, the more difficult it is to get back in... Right now it's not in the best interest of my family."
But Boeheim's ripping of Tyson is more proof of this: Anyone writing about 2012 US team beating Dream Team last summer was wasting ink.
Just now, Stan Van Gundy told us he was not giving credence to the 'Dwight Howard voicing displeasure with Mike D'Antoni' story on ESPN.
Stan Van Gundy also told us he HAS NOT interviewed with any teams, although several teams had contacted him and he keeps telling them no.
In three games against the Heat this season, Roy Hibbert has as many made shots as offensive rebounds (13).
Draft Lottery is tonight in New York. Congrats to Knicks and Nets fans, you're not involved.
BREAKING: Stan Van Gundy just told us he WILL NOT be a head coach in the NBA next season. It's a family decision.
The five most-read Sports Bog items yesterday were ALL about RGIII's wedding. Better make my Prozac a double today.
It works just like this (see pic). It’s easy and the people of Oklahoma need us like we needed them last fall. http://t.co/ipIWpvU1lh
Pope Prigioni kept his critical comments to himself when Boehiem was embarrassed by Louisville in the Big East & Michigan in the Final Four
Remember when we needed help during Sandy? Let’s pay it forward: Text “REDCROSS” to 90999, $10 donation to help tornado victims in Oklahoma.
It's one thing for Jim Boeheim to rip Felton & Tyson Chandler but when he goes after Pope Prigioni, well that's when he's crossed the line.
I remember watching tape of all of Tim Duncan's blocks this season and just about everyone was with his heels on the ground.
The only big man who can be as effective as Z-Bo without jumping is Tim Duncan. That matchup is an inspiration for us grounded folks.
The subtitle to PJ's book: "The Soul of Success." Does success have a soul? Success is a seminar word. Soul is a seminary word. Curious.
