Looking ahead on the Rose ankle watch - Bulls play four in five nights starting Tuesday, so sitting him tomorrow might be the play.
Classic. Thibodeau got asked a softball about Tony Snell's 4th quarter job on LeBron. "We'll see. I want to see the film."
3 minutes on Butler - he's going to look great in New York blue and orange next season ... tick...tick...
7 minutes on Jimmy Butler contract extension, by the way.
Good news is there's a win sitting out there for the taking in Minny tomorrow night - with or without Rose.
More Noah: "They're good rebounders. We got our ass kicked on the glass and we'll do a better job next time."
Mirotic was given 4:11 against the Cavs. Reality against skilled teams.
Noah: "We tricked it. We tricked the game today. We should have won."
And as I said numerous times - New York was an aberration. Plan for Mirotic is 4 minutes, and more if they're good minutes.
Translation: Don't blame me that there's a few guys that need heart transplants.
Thibs is clearly frustrated with minutes talk, throwing all answers to "I do what the trainers and doctors tell me.''
So from what we know there are minutes restrictions for Rose, Noah and Gasol.
As far as Gasol's MIA in the fourth, he played 36 minutes, so Thibs said he had to honor his minutes restrictions as well.
I'm guessing that Gibson wasn't getting the same bounce he would like in his injured ankle, but warrior-ed up.
Rose has to feel a certain amount of bounce in his game to take the court. Was the same mentality late in the 2013 season.
Rose: "It kind of limited me a little bit, shooting jump shots and I wasn’t getting the bounce I wanted."
Rose said he will give it a go tomorrow, but pointed out if he can't go there will still be 80 games left. 79 actually, but who cares.
Rose: "It kind of limited me a little bit shooting jump shots, and wasn’t getting the bounce I wanted.’’ So he told trainers and was pulled.
Taj Gibson: "We got humbled. But we'll see them again."
He didn't want to come back in the game because he "wasn't getting the bounce I like.''
Rose said the injury was minor, no swelling, and X-rays negative. Still unsure about tomorrow in Minny.
Rose called his injury minor. "I'm walking around so I think everyone can breathe."
Rose said his ankle isn't serious and he will travel to Minnesota.
Rose's message to city of Chicago. "Don't worry. Just an ankle sprain"
Rose says x rays were negative. Says he's fine. Just an ankle sprain.
Thibs on if he is worried about Rose: "I'm worried about everybody.''
Rose joking with reporters. Says he's all right.
"They don't talk to me.'' Thibs, asked if he was given an explanation by refs on Irving's questionable 3-point play.
Thibs: "We had some tough calls go against us."
Thibs has no update on Rose after all. Update on his team? "You have to play with an edge.''
Thibs says he hasn't gotten an update on Rose's ankle yet.
Thibs on his way down - Rose update coming.
One guy had a football background, where toughness is learned. The other did not.
Each time Rose goes down, my respect and admiration for the way A. Iverson played goes up. Reckless abandon and got up off the floor.
Up next Sat. night at Minnesota 630 CT pre Bulls Radio Network ESPN 1000
Cavs 114-108 OT James 36-Irving 23 Thompson 16-13 reb Hinrich-Rose each with 20 Bulls 20 turnovers Cavs 52-42 on glass
Final score 114-108 Cavs. Lesson learned? Don't use the Knicks as a measuring stick of where you are....ever!
It's over. Bulls lose in OT 114-108. Rose's ankle injury hovers over everything for the Bulls.
Cavs win in OT to tie Bulls and Pacers for Central Division lead. LeBron and Cavs finally break one-game losing streak. Cavs by 10 on boards
Holy Tristan Thompson .... 12 offensive rebounds. Thibs might puke after watching game film on the plane.
1...2....3.... "Hard Work!'' 4....5....6... "Together!''
Cavs 112-106 12.3 sec
James is rarely ever hurt. It's gotta be the shoes.
Gasol will go off before mid-November. Book it!
Bulls with 20 turnovers Cavs lead 110-104 16.5 sec left OT
Great game. Bulls were beaten at what they do best, but this will be a season-long saga. Can't wait for the ECF.
Horrible call on Noah. Let them play.
The nice thing for the Bulls is a lot of the sloppy play is very correctable. The bad news is injuries aren't.
Perhaps fitting for this game appears Bulls unexpectedly losing because of failure to box out. Tristan Thompson offensive reb and slam big
Last opponent to have more than 12OR vs Bulls ...Rodman (Pistons) in 95
Rose should start wearing LeBron's.
Cavs 52-42 rebounding edge. Fitting Thompson possibly iced game with that offensive board and dunk.
Thompson just wanted it more than Gibson and was in way better position. Sums up the night.
Thompson has killed the Bulls 13 boards-12 on the offensive glass Cavs 108-104
Rose's status could be in doubt for tomorrow. Back-to-backs are no fun.
Snell in for Brooks
Cavs 104-102 w/1:35 in OT. Noah and Gibson closing with Hinrich, Dunleavy and Brooks
104-102 Cavs...Cleveland 135 left in OTball
Great defense by Taj Gibson. He got switched onto Irving and held his own.
Noah is back in the game for the final 2:40.
Thibs reaching for the security blanket that is Noah. Minutes be damned!
Noah coming to scorer's table.
LeBron James does the Boozer and flexes after going to the rim and getting an and 1.
The King just gave Chicago crowd a bicep pose after that one. Bow to the KING!
Actually, welcome to the minutes restrictions that will haunt Noah all season.
Now I get it - Noah is the regular-game closer ... Gasol the overtime closer.
Bulls in overtime without Rose with ankle turn and Noah likely over his playing time restrictions from knee surgery in summer
Wouldn't be surprised if Noah is done. He's at 35 minutes and back-to-back tomorrow.
Noah on bench to start OT. He's already played 35 minutes. I wonder if he will come back in.
Definitely, not the usual Game No. 2 of the regular season.
Bulls playing the Pacino - "The inches we need'' speech. Pacino should coach the Bears.
Terrific Bulls/Cavs game ending as it should with no one winning. 98-98 going into overtime. Heck of a preview for the season
Bulls 14 blocks
That continuation call is killing me.
This game is like Rocky-Drago, Christmas Night in Russia.
Love misfired top side 3---OT here we come ! 98-98
Love misses a 3 that would have won it at the buzzer. We are headed to overtime in Chicago.
Cavs have sent Waiters back to the locker room ... He's not hurt. They just don't want him anywhere near the court.
Hinrich airballs a desperation 3 as shot clock expires. LeBron has 3.9 seconds to win the game.
Hinrich no go---Cavs ball 3 sec left 98-98
Cavs tie at 98 with 27.9 seconds remaining. Snell telling Thibs he can't bail out team every night
Irving with continuation -a 3 point play at 98..Bulls ball 27 sec left
Hinrich with last eight Bulls points as sculptors begin final preparations for Hinrich statue
LeBron will be looking to sign with the Spurs by next week.
Crazy thing is the Bulls are so numb to playing without Derrick that when he goes out, it doesn't seem to faze them. For regular season.
Hinrich has scored last 8 Bulls points Bulls 98-93
No you didn't Kirk Hinrich!!!
Thibs closing with Snell, Hinrich, Gibson, Noah and Dunleavy. He does have more than enough after all.
Bulls take 96-91 lead with 1:15 remaining in their classic and tried closing game formula of Snell defense and Hinrich shooting threes
Kirk Hinrich dressed up as MJ for Halloween. Knocks down two huge triple in the last 2 minutes. Crowd is going bonkers.
Bulls have a take-over point guard after all. It's Hinrich. ESPN, put him on the cover next year!!!!
Hinrich back to back 3s...96-91 1:15 left 4th
Tony Snell earning some serious trust. Messing with James right now.
