Rockets win 90-89 as Orlando misses at the buzzer. Isaiah Canaan scored all 14 of his points in the fourth.
Green misses at the buzzer. Rockets starters celebrate 90-89 win led by Canaan, Daniels and Johnson. Commemorative video available in lobby.
It has been an ugly game, but a 14-0 Rocket run over a 2:13 span has given them the lead, 87-86, with 2:15 left in Orlando.
BTW, for those into this sort of thing, Canaan, Daniels and Johnson have led a thrilling comeback from down 12 to 1-pt lead. Canaan with 12.
Man, D-Mo is suffering. He is 0 for 11, including an 0 for 5 on 3s. Rockets bench will go nuts if he finally gets something to go.
Jeff Adrien w/ a hard foul of Dewayne Dedmon who jumped up as if he was going to do something. He didn't. Officials can review that this yr.
Terrence Jones heads to the locker room with 9 minutes left. He has been putting heat on the back of his neck. Don't think anything serious.
TJones is 3 of 10, Papanikolaou 1 of 7 and Motiejunas 0 for 7. Maybe they should try their right hands for awhile.
The J.J. Watt commercial dancers are back at it and better than ever. Sadly, the time out ended and the game resumed.
Kevin McHale was so stern in calling his players over in that time out, Kyle O'Quinn joined them.
Terrence Jones' shot selection tonight -- if he sees a shot, he selects to shoot it.
Looks like James Harden will call it a night. Troy Daniels starting the second half.
So far, the most memorable thing to take from this game is the halftime show, a trick ballhandler, was outstanding. Immediately in top 5.
McHale apparently reading tweets. Isaiah Canaan checks in.
McHale on rotation tonight: "We’re trying to reward the guys who’ve played well in practice. We definitely aren’t 100 percent set yet."
The Rockets seem to have a lot of big men who can almost, but not quite, make a large variety of shots.
Dwight Howard and Jason Terry come out to the Rockets bench. Fans seem very interested in one of them.
Troy Daniels also getting 1st quarter minutes. Could be another guy getting a chance to show something to earn regular season playing time.
Joey Dorsey getting an early look. Got to think this is an important game for him.
Apparently, Ariza and Howard will enjoy watching in the lockerroom. That leaves only Ish Smith and Joe Rogowski as former Magi on Hou bench.
There's a couple behind the Rockets bench that looks like they are auditioning for the next J.J. Watt at the school dance commercial.
Dwight Howard and Trevor Ariza getting the night off for Rockets tonight.
When it's incredibly tough to say goodbye, that means you loved everyone & everything you're saying goodbye to. http://t.co/QGrwQ91br4
Lorenzo White, Ricky Williams, Zach Thomas, Ken Norton Jr. among the candidates on the 2015 College Football Hall of Fame Ballot.
I know everyone remembers "Tempe Tempe" that janky temp fade lol *dinko voice*
Can't believe my homie is gone man!! Never a dull moment with him around!! If you knew him all you could do was laugh!!
Miami takes it 90-85 as their starters valiantly hold off Houston's 3rd string. Rockets shot just 3-18 from long range in 2nd half.
Rockets fouls Wade with 27.2 seconds left down 3. McHale has much to say to Daniels after. Would think you d-up and try to set up last shot.
After watching this 4th quarter I am absolutely convinced DWade and Chris Bosh are better than Ish Smith and Tarik Black (among others.)
Dwyane Wade. Good gosh almighty.
Just to get this out of the way, Dorsey, Powell, Garcia, Johnson and Canaan are here in Miami but have not played.
I think Daniels had his second 3 lined up before the Rockets even secured the rebound.
Troy Daniels is nuts. That guy is just an amazing shooter.
Daniels checks in at two. If Terry gets his mins as backup point, still think Daniels might be work his way into rotation at some point.
About the only thing the Rockets bench can do offensively right now is isolate Ish Smith on Napier. Probably not a viable long-term plan.
Great stretch of hustle as Ariza dives past Wade to bat a loose ball from backcourt to frontcourt before Jones dives past him to save it.
Bosh wraps an arm around Chalmers and chats after Pat Beverley annoys Chalmers into a T. Somewhere, LeBron's yelling at the TV.
Both teams going with starters to begin 2nd half. Would think a full 8 minutes or so more would mean lots of Rockets rest tmrw in Orlando.
For Bumgarner to get outta that jam... Wow. Impressive.
Howard and Harden with 15 apiece. Wade with 17. Guessing TNT is happy, but not sure they can rip Dwight in the studio tonight.
Rockets up 52-41 at half. Feels like a regular season game. If it's any indication, looks like D-Mo, Papa, Terry are the top three reserves.
Next time the Rockets practice (Saturday?), first on agenda has to be coverages on screens. Help not there.
Then again, in a half he's defended pretty well, Harden let Wade walk in for a put-back. It's always when his guy doesn't have the ball.
Dwyane Wade puttin on a show so far tonight, but then, so is Harden. 15 pts so far for the Beard. Rockets up double digits in the 1st H.
Wade is 5 of 5; 2 on Ariza; 3 on Harden; most examples of outstanding shot-making. Doesn't matter. Harden's D will be blamed in 3, 2, 1...
Chris Andersen launches a 3 as if still in a gym in Iola. I'm going to assume that's a preseason shot.
Rockets looked terrific in first quarter in Miami, hitting 6-9 on threes. Harden, Ariza combined for 14 points. 28-18 Rockets.
Chris Bosh just 1 of 4 in first quarter. Not sure that makes the Rockets feel any better, but it's nice of him not to torment them so far.
Papanikolaou in preseason has reliably taken possessions with everything bogged down and created something good with a drive, clever pass.
Check out the Rockets' bench as Jason Terry buries the triple. They're all aboard "The Jet". Rockets up 28-16. http://t.co/B7KWd8nCOi
In what could be another hint of McHale's thinking a week before the opener, Terry in at backup point guard, Black at backup center.
Ariza has stood out pretty much every preseason game. Caught defending on a 2-on-1 break, just drew a charge on DWade. Hit his 1st 2 treys.
Chris Bosh was not the only Heat player the Rockets' pursued. Did not advance nearly as far, but also had talks with Deng.
Same Rockets starters, rotation as we have seen lately, McHale said. That had Black as b/up center, Smith as b/up point, Pap as backup SF.
7-1 Bayern Munchen !;-)
Good morning world
Rockets practice ended about 35 minutes ago. Almost everyone long gone. TJones, D-Mo still going hard through drills. Been like that a lot.
Waiting out Rockets practice in Heat facility. Nice wall of 120 or so photos of Heat players, staff posing w/ LOB trophies, family members.
