HoopsHype New Orleans Pelicans twitter
Probably couldn't see this on TV but Brandon Jennings fired ball near the feet of one of the refs right after buzzer. Too late for a tech
Tyreke Evans missed the 2nd free throw but gets a reprieve due to a rare violation by Josh Smith. Evans capitalizes and Pels lead by 4
Big lane violation from the Pistons on the missed free throw by Evans
Eastbound and Down clip to fire up the arena. I am happy.
Greg Monroe makes 1 of 2 free throws against his hometown NBA team, pulling Pistons within 106-104 at 25 seconds to go in OT
That might have been my favorite tweet I've ever tweeted. --@nolajake
Who called that one?
Are we at the point where Josh Smith starts chucking up threes to try and tie it?
That leading pass while off balance to Anderson who was flaring out was huge. Pretty basketball.
Ryan Anderson very cold all game (especially by his standards), but drills 2 three-pointers in OT in huge spots. Pelicans up 2 at 1:12
Jason Smith is having a huge game tonight. A few too many possession with him taking early jumpers, but wow his line tonight.
Pistons just flubbed an offensive rebound chance.
Ryno with the PUJIT! A three-point PUJIT! The best kind
Random note: Pelicans have played 4 Central Div. opponents. Two games have gone to OT, the others were decided by 5 (Ind) and 4 (Cle) pts
Is there an intern somewhere that can bring me coffee?
Pistons, who have been held off the offensive glass all night, grab a huge one right at the end for a second chance at a winner.
Ryan Anderson with a pretty clean look at the hoop but it hasn't been his night, shooting 2-9 on treys. Pistons ball tied at :26.5
2 for 1 potential here
Pelicans can go for a 2-for-1 in a tie game with 40 seconds left. Just need to shoot by around 28 or 29 ticks to go
Swattation by Jason Smith. Huge block. Leads to a shot clock violation by the Pistons.
And down the stretch the Pelicans come...
Nice floater in the lane from Smith
One thing to keep in mind during crunch time, Pistons bigs from foul line this season: Monroe 66%, Smith 55%, Drummond 38%
9 point lead for the Pelicans as we get ready for the 4th quarter. Can they stave off the Pistons for the win?
Morrow checking into the game. He's taken only 1 shot in 7 minutes tonight so far.
Withey with a great screen for Holiday but it took him out of position to grab a rebound. Something he needs to work on.
Jrue Holiday seems like he's getting into a great groove running the offense and knowing when to shoot. He's 7-9 FGs for 16 pts, 7 assists
I actually curious about the Withey/Amundson combo on the court right now. --@nolajake
Withey gets a good cheer when he checked into the game.
Lou Amundson, Jason Smith and Al-Farouq Aminu combining to outwork Pistons under the rim and grab multiple rebounds
Pelicans rebounding advantage is, at times, due to hustle or just having more guys in position to grab a board.
If you get posterized by Lou Amundson you should just go and retire.
FYI entering tonight Pistons were ranked 5th in NBA in rebounding margin, while Pelicans were 7th. NOLA 30-16 in boards so far
3-pointers spread out the defense and open up the paint. Allows a non post big like Smith room to operate and receive passes.
Gordon with a strong drive. He tried to draw contact but it wasnt called.
If Aminu can consistently hit that mid range jumper he will be a huge asset to the Pelicans offense regarding spacing.
Three offensive boards during the opening possession. That's great and all but you need to score eventually
Last season New Orleans only won 2 games when giving up 100-plus points. The Pelicans have already done it 3 times this season
He jumped up and down then limped slightly. Don't think it is that bad but we'll wait and see.
Smith might be hurt after that miss by the Pistons
Pistons score 8.2% of their offense off offensive rebounds. That's a huge chunk gone with only 2 tonight.
Quiet 1st half from NOLA leading scorer Ryan Anderson (4 pts, 1-5 FGs) but five other Pelicans have at least 6 points
Pistons lead the league in offensive rebounding percentage. At abover 30%. Tonight? 2 total offensive boards.
Beautiful D by the Pels on Monroe. Doubled him on the elbow when he drove, slowed him down and allowed Smith to contest his shot. Perfect.
Monroe can take Smith off the dribble anytime he wants. Rotations need to be better to take away that lane.
Roman Harper is in the arena tonight for the game
I'd say Evans should hurt his ankle every game if he plays like this, but that doesn't sound like a good or smart idea.
Coming off ankle injury, Tyreke Evans having one of his best quarters of season, with 8 points, 4 reb in 10 minutes. Has 2 layups, 1 jumper
Almost no movement on this possession. Just Evans doing things with the ball. Luckily grabbed his own rebound.
Detroit with 7 total rebounds. Pelicans with 16. Keep the advantage up.
Rivers showing off the corner three. If he wants to earn more playing time that is a good skill to develop.
Pistons with ZERO turnovers thus far in the game.
You could apparently get courtside seats for $40 a piece today
Aminu has 4 defensive rebounds which is basically like 8 against this Pistons team.
Happily incorrect I should add!
Apparently I am incorrect. Rivers in before Roberts. --@nolajake
As Monty Williams had noted several times over the past few days as possible, Austin Rivers has moved up in rotation. 2nd guy off bench
Holiday is 4-4 with 1 3-pointer made. Oh and he also has 4 assists.
Holiday is clearly feeling much more comfortable in the Pelicans offense.Has been massively improving the past 10 games or so.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Tyreke Evans is checked into the game
Pelicans' cutters are passing well and not forcing bad looks. Using Smith for the outlet after defense helps
