Based on matchups and readiness, I'd figure this will be the best five for now: Jose, Iman, Melo, Amar'e and Sam.
Fisher said he rested Quincy Acy because of a sore right wrist but seems happy with him as starting PF. Jas. Smith produced (4-5) as starter
Carmelo, on his NBA-leading MPG total last season: "I really didnt have no choice." Team was struggling in standings, so he had to play more
Melo said he likes Fisher's sub pattern to pull him with 2 mins left in 1st and 3rd. "I know I don't wanna play 40 mins unless I have to."
Shump also roasted Hardaway, saying he looked like hed laid his clothing out the night before. "It's the first day of school, huh?" he said.
Fisher says Acy has a sore right wrist, and that's why he didn't play.
Carmelo, who hit the game-winner tonight, was 1-of-16 from the floor last year in final 30 seconds of one-possession games last season.
Fun game. Felt like the real thing.
Even if preseason, confidence-builder for Melo to hit game-winner with 13 seconds left after his miserable late-game stats in 2013-14.
Shump on Wall.
Melo shot 40% from the floor once he'd been on the floor for 30 mins in a game. FG% fell to 23% after he'd been on floor for 40 mins
Just preseason, but Melo hitting that jumper shows the value of getting him additional rest early in the game.
Knicks and Wizards 100-100, 27.3 seconds left - WWWD (What would Woodson do)
Excited to see Iman's hat after the game.
Drazen Petrovic would've been 50 2day. Me & Clyde stayed w him when, crying, cleared out Port locker. Trade 2 NJ put him in lineup/limelight
Bearded wonder Quincy Acy is going to get a DNP tonight after starting last 4 games at PF. QA didn't look good other night vs. Milwaukee.
Knicks-Wizards gms at MSG always come down to the last 30 secs. And usually end with Woodson yelling at Beno, or Beal hitting a jumper
Fisher trying to post W for second straight game, getting Carmelo back in for the fourth quarter.
Unless MSG is having celebrities explain the triangle during breaks in the action? "Olivia Munn on court balance in transition defense."
These timeouts in preseason seem endless - whoever is selling ads on MSG is going to get a raise.
Don’t care that his shot was blocked. Shump must attack the rim this year.
Shane Larkin may be freakishly fast - but John Wall just blew by him like he was Amar'e.
Hardaway has 3 assists in 1st half -- a total that would've matched his season-high last year. Has had at least 2 assists in each gm so far.
Good outing for Shane Larkin so far. Looking much better in his mins with the 1st string than he had with the 2nd string previously.
Deciding where to place the absence of Red Panda in my NBA preview? Going to be hard for Adam Silver to overcome that.
So if any Royals fans want to switch over, you can catch a little Pablo Prigioni preseason action right now on MSG.
Knicks hyping this Spike Lee "What is the triangle offense." I don't think the answer will be "The system got Bargnani to the hall of fame."
Another thing thats apparent w the triangle: Melo's teammates are often caught off guard by how often he's passing the ball in this system
For those keeping score - Knicks allowing 88 percent shooting through first 5 minutes.
Carmelo Anthony just tried to shoot through a triple team, which is not triangle-like.
The Larkin, Hardaway lineup is not the defensive line.
Calderon sitting to rest calf - possibly so he wouldn't have to deal with speedster Wall. Still think plays in Mont Royale with real lineup.
Knicks still have really poor triangle spacing at times, even with Carmelo on the floor.
Larkin vs. Wall in a speed battle.
LOL at all the people who said "Might as well announce Phil Jackson last." Y'all are wild.
The Knicks' starting-lineup intros would have been really sad to watch if Melo had signed elsewhere. Who would they announce last? JR? Jose?
As we were listening to Bargnani today - giving ridiculous answers to direct questions - all I could think was "Take that, Masai."
Bargnani just spoke and shed no light on his health. He's frustrated because he's injured and he's working to get back on the court.
Bargnani, asked whether he's run since injuring his hamstring, is evasive. Says he and doctors are just working on it everyday.
We just spoke with bargnani who basically gave us the "both teams played hard" except less charming than Rasheed.
Really liked Phil's public thoughts on the roster. Really disagree w/ him on Cole Aldrich, though -- think he's better than emergency backup
As for Prigioni, Fisher likes Larkin's change of speed but says Prigioni had a long summer playing for Argentina & needs him for long haul.
Fisher just made point of emphasis this year's defensive philosophy is "no switching.'' Just opposite of last season under Woody.
Fisher, on his defensive philosophy: "No switching. That's something we haven't talked about or allowed ourselves to do."
Fisher also cited Pablo's need for rest, after having spent the summer participating in the FIBA World Cup
Fish, on why Larkin is gets mins as 2nd-string PG over Pablo: Cites his ability to get into paint, & his change of pace.
Says Larkin's excessive playing time in preseason is also due to keeping Pablo fresh for regular season and give Shane seasoning
Fisher said Larkin is young change of pace guy - but resting Pablo for season is part of minutes decisions now.
Fisher said Calderon (calf) may play Friday but obviously it is more important that he's ready for opening night.
Jason Smith at PF ends Quincy Acy's streak of four straight starts. Fisher just seems to be experimenting with Jose out.
Larkin, Hardaway, Jason Smith, Dalembert, Melo are the Knicks starters. Okay.
Calderon will rest hamstring. Fisher says he will not risk anything.
Fisher is starting Shane Larkin, Tim hardaway Jr., melo, Jason smith and Sam dalembert tonight
Larkin, Hardaway, Jason Smith, Dalembert, Melo are starters. Saving real one for Mont Royale..
