The biggest gain of the season for FAU, QB Jaquez Johnson to WR Jenson Stoshak for 59 yards, leads to a 21-yard FG. FAU leads Tulsa, 3-0.
FAU has won the toss & will start the game with the ball. Coach Charlie Partridge is in khakis, not the bright red pants.
Too bad UConn couldn't hold on against Boise State. Would've been a good Big East win. Oh, never mind.
Here at FAU Stadium for the 1st time. We're less than a hour from kickoff as the Owls will take on Tulsa.
Jim Dolan did say he only becomes involved when things get screwed up. No offense, but he might have the sequence of events out of order.
I hope it works for Phil & Fisher but history tells us to be worried when Dolan, via his media friends, needs to remind us he's not involved
One day we'll read all about it in Phil Jackson's book.
FYI: Phil Jackson's second choice, Derek Fisher, received a more lucrative offer from the Knicks than his top choice, Steve Kerr. Wonder why
Steve Kerr was done with the Knicks once Marv Albert, Kerr's broadcasting partner, made critical comments about Jim "I'm not Involved" Dolan
The story says that Phil, not Dolan, is running the Knicks...except when it comes to Steve Kerr & the medical staff. Just those minor things
The Times apparently left out comments from Phil Jackson regarding Dolan's role in the Steve Kerr mess. But remember, he's not involved.
Carmelo Anthony on why he chose to start workouts two weeks after the season instead of taking a customary one-month break: "I was angry."
"I only care about my music. I let my basketball people run the Knicks." He should include, "I can sell you that bridge in Brooklyn."
And this is why MSG PR maven Barry Watkins is the best. He can still get that story in the paper. Pure genius.
For the 10th consecutive September, there is a planted story that reveals that Jim Dolan is in a band & will not interfere with the Knicks.
(cont.) “I think there was some money, but there were some other issues involved in it, too,” Jackson said. “But that’s enough about that.”
Jackson was asked to clarify: Did that mean Dolan was willing to offer Kerr more money than you were? (cont.)
Outtake from the Dolan piece: When Jackson was asked about Kerr, he said Dolan was flexible. Then added, “More flexible than I was." (cont.)
Melo says his weight loss was less about a specific diet & more about taking less time off between the end of the season & summer workouts.
Melo on his diet/conditioning: "I feel great. I haven’t felt like this in a long, long time, ever since I came into the league"
Melo: "I've been at the facility for the past couple of weeks w/ the young guys, w/ the coaches trying to figure out the Triangle Offense"
Carmelo Anthony on the league's response to Sterling: "I support Adam Silver 100 percent. I think he’s done a great job since he’s been in."
Carmelo on Hawks/Ferry: "I’m speaking on behalf of all athletes. We would never look at a situation like that, I don’t care what it is."
Carmelo Anthony on situation w/Hawks GM Ferry: "I think it was uncalled for. From an owner, from a GM, those are not things you play with."
Thank God for today
And when they ask me where I'm from I say a Great state Mind
congrats to Phx Mercury and that shark Diana Taurasi MVP on their title.
Yeah, I think I can do without watching any football this weekend. I'm good.
Heurtel can't take a shot there under any circumstance unless it's a wide-open layup. Batum has to touch. Should finally wrap it up now.
Finally got a ballgame. France on a 15-4 run to open the fourth quarter, pulls within 65-61 of Serbia with 5:16 left.
All other issues aside, as one exec noted, you don't know who else is on those calls. Or whether they might be taping.
Team execs I've spoken to all raise the same point: Why would Danny Ferry read those remarks on a conference call, period?
France having that game you see all too often in the NCAA tourney: Pull an upset, then have nothing next game. Serbia up 30-15.
I suppose after the Levenson email and the Ferry comments the Hawks may not have to worry about too many African-Americans at their games
Worth noting that Patrick Ewing made the ice bucket challenge to James Dolan, who is also donating $100,000 to ALS charities.
Joe Walsh on Today Show: "I would just like to say that a lot of people in NY would like to drop buckets of various things on Jim Dolan."
Or Joe Walsh quote: “I would just like to say that a lot of people in New York would like to drop buckets of various things on Jim Dolan."
FYI: The NY Post today wrote its 100th story this year on Jim Dolan & his band. Why? I don't know. Soft coverage, free tickets? Not sure
Ferry making “African” reference re: Deng was obviously unnecessary to make his point. Was it meant to be a joke? Audio suggests not.
So Danny Ferry basically said Luol Deng is a phony and a locker room politician. So is half the league.
