54-54 at the half. Our old friend Rudy Gay has 17.
JJ is just making everyone smile as Lou Williams comes back to end the half for the @raptors.
Boogie also has the best "A foul on ME???" face in the league.
Last year, I said the Kings might be the Raps in a best-of-7. I still think that, kind of. Boogie is a beast.
Chuck Hayes has blocked Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins tonight. He also ran more than he has all season on recent play.
James Johnson in for the first time with 3:31 to go in the half
Hey, it's James Johnson!
Rudy Gay and Chuck Hayes revenge game.
Let's just say it: The Dance Pak tribute to the forces is insulting.
Watch Chuck Hayes try to invade DeMarcus Cousins' brain here ....
Raptors might want to stop trying to dump the ball to Chuck Hayes under the hoop. To say he is not expecting those passes is underselling it
Defence anyone? Kings open the second quarter hitting 7 of their first 8 shots, Raptors knocking down 6 of 9. Raps by 4
9 possessions, 18 points between these teams to start the Q.
Lou tortured poor Nik Stauskas earlier in the year. Just got him to bite on a pump fake.
15 of the Raps' 26 first-quarter points came from beyond the arc. They're 5-for-8 from three, 5-for-13 from everywhere else. Raps lead by 4
Bebe suit watch: Grey, with a vest, purple tie, blue shirt.
DeRozan w/ a behind-the-back, slight-of-hand lay up at the buzzer to end Q1. He was about a half-second too late. No basket. TOR up 26-22
No team in the NBA forces fewer turnovers than the Kings, yet the Raptors committed 7 first-quarter TOs leading to 9 of Sacto's 22 pts
Raps up 26-22 after a Q. DeMar played all 12 minutes that frame, which is something.
Must be a surreal moment for Stauskas .... playing his first game at the ACC. What an achievement for him.
On the other hand: Raps 5-for-8 from 3s. They've been waiting for this time of effort beyond the arc.
Early PT for Chuck Hayes, in to wrestle w/ Cousins. Nice hand for Nik Stauskas as the Mississauga-native enters for the 1st time 10 mins in
It's Chuck Hayes!
Seven early turnovers for the Raps.
Halfway through the first quarter, the fans realized Rudy Gay was on the Kings, and booed him after he made a shot.
IF, big if, DeMar can consistently hit the corner three it might help the team start JJ. Although it doesn't sound like Casey is interested
Amir is now 10-for-22 from 3 this year. Most of those are looks the opposition blatantly allows. But still, they're going in.
Amir Johnson is now 9-for-10 from three at home (90%), 1-for-12 (8%) on the road. How bizarre.
Will be interesting to see how Casey manages rotation on the second night of back-to-back, in a matchup better suited for JJ/Hayes
Maybe Amir Johnson is secretly the Raptors' best three-point shooter.
They the North, California style? Kings have rookie from Mississauga, 2 former Raptors, and four former Raptors employees on coaching staff.
Amir will start on Cousins. He now has one personal foul, 11 seconds in.
That wasn't a knock on Rudy. It's just that in his tenure in Toronto was totally meaningless, aside from its start and end.
Casey said he doesn’t envy West coaches who will have to leave off deserving players like Conley, Dirk, Durant? Duncan? Cousins?
Rudy Gay gets hardly any recognition at all. Which is about right.
Apparently this is a huge game. We are packed in like sardines on press row.
Casey said “time will come” for James Johnson. That he wants to play but understands and has been good teammate about lack of minutes.
Said hello to Reggie Evans, one of my favourite players ever to cover on daily basis. Forgot to ask how many stops he’s made at Frans.
Stauskas said he’s expecting “a couple hundred people” at game tonight. Unsure of his minutes, but said he is adjusting to league.
“We're all proud of each other and hopefully we can put a good team together this summer and show people what Canada is all about” Stauskas
Me: "Did you vote for four Hawks?" Casey: "You're not that slick."
Stauskas said hard to turn off being a Raptors fan. Still checks in on then.
Nik Stauskas said about DeMarcus Cousins: "I don't think there's anyone in the world that can stop him."
Casey on JJ: "His time is going to come. I dont know when, it may be tonight, it may be tmrw night. I dont know when, but its going to come"
Casey on JJ "He's been great. I spoke to him briefly earlier, he understands that when DeMar came back somebodys mins was going to decrease"
My All-Star reserves- East: Teague, Butler, Horford, Millsap, Bosh, Irving, Wade. West: Lillard, Harden, Aldridge, Cousins, KD, Paul, Klay
With Raps in the 2nd night of a back-to-back & given the matchup (Rudy Gay) I would expect to see more James Johnson this eve, but who knows
The biggest issues continues to be curbing opponents' dribble penetration. Everything (on D) stems from there.
Also, Cousins averages 22.9 PPG (on 57% shooting) against Raps. Best PPG against any team.
Since Malone was fired, they're +2.7 when Cousins plays, -20.6 when he sits. Even more pronounced.
A note about tonight's game. With Boogie on floor, Kings outscore opponents by 6.8 pts/100 possession. On bench: They're outscored by 12.5.
World roster for Rising Stars: Adams, Giannis, Bogdanovic, Dieng, Exum, Gobert, Mirotic, Olynyk, Schroder, Wiggins.
The short version of the blog: Raptors turning the ball over way more over past 10, but offensive boards way up and defence has been better.
I can't imagine a world in which Selma was more thematically problematic than American Sniper. Solid, measured historical movie.
Catching up with last night's Raps game, which I missed. Ball moving more crisply, DeMar looks like he's finding himself. Need 3s to fall.
In and of themselves, idols are impotent. We are the ones that give them their power.
Derrick Rose with 8 turnovers
La liga profesional de baloncesto en Venezuela va a estar muy interesante.. Cual Es el mejor roster? Yo veo varios equipos muy buenos..
