A strong Drew League team featuring Trevor Ariza lost to an Isaiah Thomas-led Seattle Pro-Am squad Friday night. The score doesn’t matter much in these games, but you never want to be on the wrong side of the highlight plays.
And that’s what happened to Ariza. The Rockets forward, who’s 6-foot-8, got rejected at the rim in one play by Thomas, who’s 11 inches shorter… at least according to NBA.com.
It does look bad for Ariza, but this could make him feel better about himself: Isaiah Thomas has the second-best blocks average (0.08 bpg) in NBA history among players 5-foot-9 or shorter. Only Spud Webb of slam dunk contest fame is ahead of him.
