Derek Fisher‘s coaching chops have been doubted ever since he got job the Knicks’ job last year. Finishing his rookie season with a 17-65 record didn’t help matters, but he’s winning some fans this year with New York playing solid basketball and a nice 10-10 record so far.
Count point guard Jose Calderon among those in his corner.
“Let me tell you I have a great deal of respect for Fisher as a coach,” Calderon told Spanish website Encestando. “He’s a great coach and I’m convinced everybody will think the same thing in a few years.”
Calderon is averaging 7.8 points and a career-low 3.8 assists in 27.0 minutes with the Knicks this season. The veteran guard is under contract till 2016-17.
