<p>January 9: Roy Tarpley. Drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1986 Draft (7th overall pick). Played from 1986 to 1990 with the Mavericks and then returned to the team in 1994-95. Won the NBA Sixth Man Award in 1988. Tarpley was banned from the NBA because of his problems with drugs and alcohol, then resumed his career playing in Greece, Cyprus, Russia and China. Retired in 2005-06 after playing with the Michigan Mayhem of the CBA. He was 50.</p>
<p>February 28: Anthony Mason. Played in the NBA between 1989 and 2003. Best known for his role in New York as a backup for Patrick Ewing and Charles Oakley. Sixth Man of the Year. NBA All-Star in 2001 with the Heat. Started a career as an actor, playing himself in Woody Allen's Celebrity film and New York Undercover TV series. He was 48.</p>
<p>June 29: Jackson Vroman. Drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 2004 (31st overall pick). Played two seasons in the NBA (2004-05 and 2005-06) with the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Hornets. His father Brett played one season in the NBA with the Utah Jazz. Played for the Lebanon national basketball team. He was 34.</p>
