All-Star: How NBA players voted

Based on HoopsHype research, NBA players didn’t use the #NBAVote hashtag much to endorse fellow NBAers for the All-Star Game on Twitter and, when they did, they typically used it to vote for current or former teammates – whether in the league or FIBA basketball.

Some more takeaways from this very important HoopsHype Twitter research:

–  Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony was the leading vote-getter, although with just six #NBAvote’s.

Chris Paul received four votes, but none from Clipper teammates. (On another note, he received the very sought-affter support of Justin Bieber).

– Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas got four votes from his own teammates. The only other players with as many votes from members of their own team were Melo and DeMar DeRozan.

– With zero votes, likely back-to-back MVP Stephen Curry was shockingly snubbed… but he was not alone. Other stars with no Twitter support from their peers (not counting retweets) were Kawhi Leonard, Tim Duncan, Anthony DavisJimmy Butler, Pau Gasol, Paul Millsap and Al Horford.

Caron Butler voted for 14 different players, being by far the most engaged in the All-Star Twitter vote. He was the lone Kobe Bryant supporter, by the way.
