Smith actually had a solid start to his career and was named to the 1995-96 All-Rookie team, but he quickly became a journeyman who played for 12 teams and was never the force that many thought he would be after a successful career at the University of Maryland. Rasheed Wallace and Kevin Garnett went No. 4 and No 5 in the 1995 draft and had much better careers than Smith.
