The “Kandi Man” was one of those classic Clippers picks that was destined for failure. The 7-footer played four years at University of the Pacific and actually led his team to the NCAA tournament in his junior year. But he struggled in the NBA, averaging double digits in points in just two of his nine years. The Clippers could have had Vince Carter, Dirk Nowitzki, or Paul Pierce – three players who went in the top 10 picks in 1998.
