This one should have been great, as the Lakers were looking to win their third straight title, Magic Johnson had just won his second MVP award, and these two teams played an epic seven-game series the year before. But disaster quickly struck for the Lakers as starting guard Byron Scott hurt his hamstring in practice before Game 1 and was ruled out of the series and then Magic hurt his hamstring early in Game 2 and was limited to a total of just 75 minutes in three games. The “Bad Boy” Pistons won their first title but NBA fans were left wondering what could have been if Scott and Magic stayed healthy.
