For LeBron’s 15th sneaker, Jason Petrie and the rest of the Nike development team introduced Battleknit, a new type of Flyknit material designed specifically for LeBron that delivered stretchy support, ultra-lightweight flexibility and a lock-in-like feeling. Another first was the combination of Zoom and Max Air in a Nike basketball sneaker. The combo helped soften hard landings and enabled quick moves for someone of James’s stature. James and Nike also launched #LeBronWatch, a plethora of player-edition 15s that pay homage to iconic Nike shoes (Air Max 95, Griffey 1, Air ACG Mowabb, Diamond Turf, AZG, South Beach 8, BB4 and Waffle Trainer) and its athletes (Ken Griffey Jr., Vince Carter and Deion Sanders). Five #LeBronWatch models were available at various House of Hoops locations across the country and through Nike’s SNKRS app.
