Jason Petrie, a Nike designer who would play a pivotal role in James’s signature sneaker line, was at the helm of the LeBron 7. The 7 switched back to Air Max and featured FlyWire, a technology that reduced weight on the sneaker, on the upper panels. The Flywire in the 7 contained 23 wires – an ode to James’s number – along with five grooved outsoles that served as a reminder that it takes five players to win on the court (even if LeBron’s been known to carry his teammates to victory). The 7 would also the last signature model James would play in as the Big 3-led Boston Celtics eliminated the Cavs in the 2010 Playoffs.
