3. Bill Russell
Bill Russell spent his entire career in green. However, he was not drafted by the Celtics. The St. Louis Hawks selected Russell out of San Francisco and traded him to Boston for Ed Macauley and Cliff Hagan. What a mistake! Russell, who was a two-time NCAA champ, added to that with 11 NBA titles, and five MVP awards. He was part of a ferocious battle with Wilt Chamberlain during their careers and was a 12-time All-Star. His No. 6 is retired by the Celtics. Russell corraled 21,620 rebounds while scoring 14,522 points. A force on the boards on both ends of the floor. Since 2009, the MVP of the Finals award has been named the Bill Russell Award.
