What's the winning percentage of each NBA franchise?

- by

16. NEW YORK KNICKS: 48.9 PERCENT

36 winning seasons in 72 years

In the last 17 years, the New York Knicks have only made the playoffs four times. At least they can claim to have two titles to their name, though the last one came all the way back in 1972-73.

17. DENVER NUGGETS: 48.7 PERCENT

22 winning seasons in 42 years

In their first 19 years as a franchise, the Denver Nuggets missed the playoffs just five times. Still, Denver hasn’t been able to capture a championship since joining the NBA.

18. DETROIT PISTONS: 48.7 PERCENT

29 winning seasons in 70 years

Since 1983-84, the Detroit Pistons have had two very impressive stretches – the first lasted nine years, where Detroit made the playoffs every season (two which culminated with championships), and then a 14-year run which started in 1995-96 where they missed the postseason just twice, and where they won one more title. The times have been a bit tougher recently, with Detroit making the playoffs just once in the last nine years.

19. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS: 48.3 PERCENT

33 winning seasons in 72 years

Their winning percentage as a franchise almost feels hilariously low due to how excellent they’ve been over the past four years. Regardless, before that, times were brutal for the Golden State Warriors, as they had a terrible 18-year stretch where they made the playoffs just once, dating from 1994-95 to 2011-12.

20. ORLANDO MAGIC: 47.9 PERCENT

13 winning seasons in 29 years

They’ve missed the playoffs the last six years after reaching the postseason each of the six years before that. They’ve come close to a title twice (in 1994-95 and 2008-09), but haven’t been able to capture one.
