1999 NBA re-draft: The way it should have been

- by

The 1999 NBA Draft wound up severely lacking in superstar talent, there’s no denying that.

The players who went Top 3 that year, Elton BrandSteve Francis and Baron Davis, respectively, went on to have good-to-borderline-great careers, making seven All-Star appearances and getting two All-NBA berths during their times in the NBA, but all had steep drop-offs rather abruptly after hitting their peaks, all for different reasons.

Regardless, the 1999 draft does have impressive depth going for it, as nine players from that class were named All-Stars at one point or another, while it also boasts three of the best Sixth Men in NBA history in Lamar OdomManu Ginobili and Jason Terry, who all won championships in that role.

The 1999 draft is also the path Shawn Marion took to enter the NBA, who went on to become one of the most unique, Swiss-Army-type players the league has ever seen, the exact type of athlete who would have dominated in the modern game thanks to his versatility.

Other notable players from the 1999 NBA Draft include Andre MillerAndrei KirilenkoRichard Hamilton and Metta World Peace.
