Anthony Tolliver, his Pistons teammate from 2016 to 2018: We’re actually business partners now. I brought him in on a deal that I was doing called, and of course, he’s the perfect spokesperson for it. We had a photo shoot at my house actually earlier this year, and, yeah, he’s literally the perfect person for that. Patty Mills, his Spurs teammate for the 2015-16 season: (I introduced him to) the word Bala, which means brother in my language. I played against him whenever it was, the under-19 world championships, that was probably 2006 or so. I’ve kinda known him playing international at the junior level, and seeing him around.
Anthony Tolliver: To me, if a cop is in true danger, there is no way a cop should be in a position where they are making a decision on this person’s life unless that cop’s life is in danger. That’s my issue. I know that’s an issue for a lot of different people. I have no issue with cops. I love cops. I want cops to do their jobs. If you want to be a cop, then do your job. I don’t want to abolish the police system. I would like for that to be a great purpose. I don’t want a subsection of people to look at the cops and automatically have fear. I think that’s essentially where we’re at and where we have been for a long time. It’s just now being brought more to light.
Anthony Tolliver: Generally, group economics is the ability for a group of people to come together and use their individual resources — financially, socially, whatever it may be — and pool it together in order to achieve something so that not a single one of those individuals could have done by themselves. I chose that because of different reasons. I wanted to bring light to the history of group economics in African American communities and more specifically to Black Wall Street and the Tulsa race riots that happened. Some people know about that, some people don’t. I wanted to bring more light to that because Black people have figured out ways to be more successful and pool their money together and have group economics be a powerful tool in the past. But it got taken away from them; it got burned down, people got killed and taken to jail for literally no reason. They burned down the entire town. That’s the type of terror that has happened in this country. It’s ridiculous and crazy.
