The Atlanta Hawks are set to have the most cap space this summer with $50.9 million available. This would be assuming they renounce all cap holds and waive Brandon Goodwin. Prior to trading for Clint Capela and Dewayne Dedmon, the Hawks were projected to have more than $70 million in cap space, which was way too much to spend in this free agency. $50 million can also be considered too much for the Hawks given their current team. Atlanta has point guard and big men needs filled, so they could use their cap space on wing players.
Goodwin finished with a team-high 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting. “No disrespect him — I don’t even know him — but that backup point guard, he had a huge impact, probably the best game of his career,” Fournier said. “We can’t let guys like that that aren’t even on the team just impact us and dominate us, period. Credit to him. He played well. But still, it should never happen. Never.”
Chris Kirschner: For tomorrow’s game vs NOP: Cam Reddish is probable. Brandon Goodwin (right hip bruise) is questionable. Allen Crabbe (post op) is out. Chandler Parsons (load management – bilateral knees) is out. Ray Spalding (dental pain) is out Evan Turner (left Achilles pain) is out.
Before kicking off their weekends, several Denver Nuggets players went through a grueling workout session at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The high altitude (the amphitheatre sits at 6,450 feet above sea level at its peak height) and plethora of steep steps provide the players with a challenging training session. Monte Morris, Will Barton, Jarred Vanderbilt, Michael Porter Jr., Thomas Welsh and Brandon Goodwin participated in the Friday morning workout.
