Under the NBA’s “affiliate-player” rule with the D-League, Whittington, Benson and Weber are expected to be signed by the Skyforce. Recently released Heat guard Corey Hawkins also is expected to transition to the Skyforce as a designated Heat affiliate player, with NBA teams allowed to designate up to four such players. Such players must finalize their 2015-16 D-League commitments by Thursday. Because Kelley played with the Skyforce two seasons ago, he is considered a “returning-rights player” and also would be under Skyforce control if he were to elect to play in the D-League this season.

Bill Herenda: Corey Hawkins likely headed to Miami Heat NBA D-League team Sioux Falls Skyforce @SFSkyforce according to sources @BigWestMBB @BigWestSports

The Miami HEAT announced today that they have signed guard Briante Weber and waived guard Corey Hawkins. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Ira Winderman: The Heat have waived Corey Hawkins and signed Briante Weber. Both likely will wind up with Heat D-League affiliate. The Heat made a similar late-camp move last year with Larry Drew II, to get him some camp money before D-League assignment.
The only remaining player on a partially guaranteed contract is guard Tyler Johnson, who had 50 percent of his $845,050 2015-16 salary guaranteed on Aug. 1. Otherwise, forward James Ennis has a opening-night guarantee deadline for his entire 2015-16 salary, with recently added free agents Keith Benson, Corey Hawkins and Greg Whittington guaranteed until Jan. 10.
The Miami Heat added to their training camp roster with the recent signing of 3-point specialist Corey Hawkins late last week. On Monday, the Heat posted a quick clip of Hawkins training with coaches at the AmericanAirlines Arena practice court.

Whodie: So with the signing of Corey Hawkins, does this mean heat talks of Crawford are out the window? Steve Kyler: Hawkins is likely headed to the D-League not the roster. Likely gets cut in camp.
