On the same day Jim Boeheim landed a prize recruit, so did Boeheim’s Army with former SU star Donte Greene signing up for another tour of duty. Greene becomes the fourth former first-round NBA draft pick to join the 8-man roster, joining Tyler Lydon, Malachi Richardson, and Chris McCullough. The 28th pick of the 2008 NBA Draft also played for the Army in 2017, when the team made a run all the way to the TBT Final Four.

Former NBA veteran Donte Greene is open to the possibility of suiting up for the Philippine national team as a naturalized player. Greene, who has been tapped as import by TNT in the 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, joined Gilas Pilipinas pool training at Meralco Gym to get some work in before he makes his debut with the KaTropa on Friday.

According to the arrest affidavit released by Miami Beach police on Monday, Greene says he was defending his younger brother, Dmetrique during a fight with St. Louis Rams lineback Jo-Lonn Dunbar, moments later police stepped in and tasered Donte in the rear end. “I am sorry [officer] but this guy has been after me for years since I got into the NBA,” Greene said, according to the affidavit. “He was beating my brother, and I had to do what I did.”
Security at the club couldn’t contain the men, and all hell broke loose. Donte punched Dunbar from behind and continued to punch him in the head, he then ignored police orders telling him to stop, resulting in him being tasered, police said. One prong hit Donte’s back, while the other landed on the right buttocks, according to police.
