Loved the Jerome Robinson pickup. Pretty much as low risk as it gets. Have you had any conversations with the coaches/front office about the plan for his development? And if so, where do they see him in the next couple of years? Thanks! — Sean H. Everyone I speak to across the board mentions his confidence first. Robinson tends to get down on himself. People with the Clippers said the same when he was in L.A. Once he misses a couple of shots, he gets unconvinced about shooting again.

Sheppard has been running the Wizards front office for less than a calendar year, yet he already has an impressive list of marginal moves. Just recently he turned Isaiah Thomas, who was a glaring detriment on the defensive end, into Jerome Robinson, the 13th overall pick just 20 months ago. Last offseason, his first as GM, he flipped Aaron White, a former second-round pick who was stashed in Europe, for Davis Bertans, who has become one of the best shooters in the NBA. He also turned cap space into Moe Wagner and Isaac Bonga, two guys with intriguing potential. Wagner, in particular, has emerged as a building block.
The L.A. Clippers have acquired forward Marcus Morris Sr. from the New York Knicks and guard Isaiah Thomas from the Washington Wizards in a three-team trade, it was announced today by Clippers President of Basketball Operations, Lawrence Frank. As part of the trade, L.A. will send to New York forward Maurice Harkless, a 2020 first round pick, a protected 2021 first round swap option, and Detroit’s 2021 second round pick. The Clippers will send guard Jerome Robinson to Washington.
Jovan Buha: The Clippers announced their Las Vegas Summer League roster, which notably includes Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jerome Robinson, Sindarius Thornwell, Jawun Evans and Angel Delgado (two-way). Clippers begin summer league against the Warriors on Friday, July 6.

When the Clippers’ scouting department made their respective prospect rankings, Frank claims they were almost unanimous in evaluating Robinson as an NBA-ready scorer and lottery talent that would be the logical pick in the Clippers’ draft range. “It’d be one thing if I just had that opinion,” Frank said. “But when we do our scout rankings, we don’t allow out other scouts to look at the other scouts’ rankings because we don’t want to get into the group thing and you want to avoid the echo chamber. When you just kept on seeing [Jerome], you’re like, ‘OK, I think we’re onto something.’”
Though Robinson didn’t win over all of his skeptics in the media ahead of the draft — some mock drafts still had him as a late first-round pick as recently as a few days before the draft — Frank and his front office refused to waver in their confidence in the 21-year-old. “Internally we were always very, very high on him,” Frank told The Athletic. “And we thought, if you’re going to allow the mock drafts to determine your decision-making, that’s probably a little bit skewed. But we did think eventually the rest of the basketball media community would catch on to how good he is.”
