How have you tried to use your platform as a white person? Korver: “I believe as a white man in America, I certainly have a role in these conversations. I’ve been careful with how you speak, where you speak and what you say. The first thing you try to do is do a lot of listening and you try to amplify other voices and understand people that are marginalized in all these different spaces. At some point, you need to step up and speak out. I think the last few years it’s been a journey of me trying to find my voice and figure out the things that are helpful for me to say.”
What more can white players, coaches and front-office members do for social justice? Bazemore: Just continue to lead by example. I’ve been teammates with Kyle Korver, who’s been very instrumental in a lot of things that the players’ union has done. He was over talking to the Pope. Just here recently, Kyle Guy, up in Sacramento, he was really vocal in Sacramento during all this — so there are players around the league that are standing with us. And as the world sees them, the people that look like them see them with us.

Bucks forward Kyle Korver discussed Milwaukee’s decision to strike in a town hall at Creighton University on Sunday. Korver detailed the emotional nature of the Bucks’ locker room as well as the decision made by point guard George Hill that led to the team’s protest. “I just sat there with tears running down my face,” Korver said. “And I’m looking at my jersey that says Black Lives Matter, and I’m like, ‘what are we doing?'” “One teammate, George Hill decided he wasn’t going to play. …We all just sat there and were like, ‘we’re all with you.'”
