The roster decisions would seem to be rather clear-cut. Coty Clarke, Malcolm Miller, Levi Randolph and Corey Walden are likely on their way to the Maine Red Claws of the D-League eventually, leaving 16 guaranteed contracts for 15 available spots with the big club. Barring a deal that clears a contract, Perry Jones would seem to have the biggest burden of proof this week. “I haven’t talked to Danny (Ainge) about the final cuts at all,” Stevens said. “In fact, I haven’t done that really in my years here. They usually just tell me, ‘Hey, by the way, we have to make cuts soon.’ I think the biggest thing for Perry is, Perry has a chance to be a very, very good multi-positional defender, and he’s got a chance to be a guy that can play off closeouts, make shots or post switches.
So being able to do those things regularly is a huge key. But I’ve been impressed with what Perry can do, what he has done, especially in practice.”
