The Chicago Bulls are making changes at the top, having reportedly launched a search to replace long-time executive vice president John Paxton and general manager Gar Forman. And the Dallas Mavericks may have a top-notch candidate. “Michael Finley would be amazing in that role,” Mavs owner Mark Cuban tells DallasBasketball.com. “Fin has had a huge impact on the Mavs. … Amazing.”

“He only takes a second to get his shot off,” said Brett Brown, who coached Redick in Philadelphia. “It’s unique. He’s very unique to the NBA. We coached Michael Finley back in the day. He can fly off a pin down coming away from the basket, turn face, find the rim, get his shoulders square and make shots at a high level. That’s a really difficult ask.” Redick will touch the ball only 31 times in the win over the Pacers, according to NBA.com tracking data. He still scores 15 points.
Having gone through similar camps when they were growing up in Maywood, the Browns understand what it means to young people to have the attention of NBA players. “I remember going to Michael Finley’s and Tim Hardaway’s basketball camps and guys would come around and interact with us,” said Shannon. “They shook our hands, talking to us, bringing in guys like Ray Allen and Jamal Crawford. It’s huge that [the kids] get to feel the same thing because I know for me personally, they gave us hope.”
In addition to Bryant, Duncan, Garnett and Bosh, other players nominated for the first time this year include Shawn Marion, Michael Finley, Mark Eaton and Buck Williams. Meanwhile, Chauncey Billups, Mark Jackson, Tim Hardaway, Richard Hamilton, Chris Webber, Ben Wallace and Marcus Camby are among those on the ballot who have been nominated multiple times.
