The future of Primoz Brezec will be in Spain. The Slovenian big man is close to penning a deal with Bilbao Basket. The Basque team, who will play in Euroleague next season, was looking for a big man and found him Brezec.
Teams have inquired about the availability of Marreese Speights, whose playing time has dwindled, but the Sixers won’t easily part with one of their big men, a position at which they’re already weak. At last season’s trading deadline, the Sixers acquired Jodie Meeks from the Milwaukee Bucks for Royal Ivey and Primoz Brezec.
Priboz Brezec, the former member of Milwaukee Bucks, has signed a contract with Krasnie Kirilya Samara club and will play in Russia next season. “I’m excited for the new challenge,” Brezec wrote in his twitter account. The Slovenian averaged 0.9 points and 1.2 rebounds in the NBA last season.
Primoz Brezec is a free agent after his contract with the Milwaukee Bucks expired. The 29-year-old Slovenian center is considering several offers for the next season, including one from a NBA team, and three from Europe. According to Brezec, Efes Pilsen, Caja Laboral and Union Olimpija have extended offers for him. His priority is to play in “a foreign country”.
Free agent center Primoz Brezec is still holding out hope there will be a place for him in the NBA next season. “If I can find a good situation, for sure I would love to return to the NBA,” Brezec told HoopsHype.com. “I still think I can play on this level and I have some gas left in the tank. “Right now, I don’t have any offers on the table from the NBA. I have several offers from Europe, but I decided I’m going to wait to the end of the World Championship before I make a decision.”
If Plan A doesn’t work out, Spain would be Brezec’s preferred destination. “Playing in Spain was always my wish, but all the teams are set at my position,” Brezec said. “Anyway, I’m a professional. I would look at any option.”
